Watch Description

When you think of Blancpain, turn-of-the-century style, daily wearing watches likely don't come to mind, the brand best known for its focused sports watches within its Fifty Fathoms collections, and primarily more formal timepieces outside of it. Yet in the mid-1990s until about a decade ago, there existed a distinguished collection within the brand's catalog that filled this niche, and it was called the Leman.

Here we have an example from that collection in the LeMan Moonphase, which as its name implies is a moonphase of the base design. More than just a moonphase, the watch was furthermore a triple date, which when brought together make what's known as a complete calendar. For its elevated complexity, the watch is versatile in both formal and casual spaces, its stepped case and 38mm allowing for serious nimbleness on the wrist, while polishing throughout adds further luxurious distinction to the look.

On the dial, we find a familiar example of the Leman series, albeit one distinguished via its complete calendar, featuring in signature elements applied indices at each position surrounded by a simple minute ring. An applied alternative Blancpain logo tops the aesthetic for the 12 o'clock index, with a pair of stylized hands similar to those in the brand's dedicated sports ranges passing over the highly legible face. An analog date window surrounds the style, while a moonphase displays towards 6 o'clock, with rectangular day and date windows residing in asymmetric parallel.
