Watch Description

Zenith returns to the era the El Primero chronograph calibre was born in, with a reimagining of the legendary A384 from 1969 in a striking gradient blue dial with red and white accents. A limited edition of 150 pieces exclusively available in North America.

By all accounts, the 1960s was one of the most remarkable and pivotal decades in modern history, forever changing the world around us. It was a decade of challenging the norms and setting new social standards. The very fabric of society was woven anew, where taboos were meant to be broken and people could freely live as they saw fit. Fashion and design were evolving to accommodate individual freedom and expression. Clothes became more colorful and flattering, cars became bolder and louder, and music became more eclectic and experimental. And while mankind took its first steps on the moon, another sort of revolution was taking place across the Atlantic in the quaint mountainside town of Le Locle in Switzerland. After years of research, 1969 welcomed the birth of the Zenith El Primero caliber, the world’s first high-frequency automatic chronograph movement.

Zenith is celebrating the pioneering spirit of this era, as impactful on contemporary culture as it was for its own history and the entire watchmaking sector, with this special Chronomaster Revival watch, a limited edition of 150 pieces available exclusively in North America. Draped in blue, red and white tones, it reimagines what could have been an El Primero reference from 50 years ago, based on the seminal A384 from 1969.

A fresh take on an iconic chronograph from the sixties, the Chronomaster Revival Liberty is made in a 37 mm angular tonneau stainless steel case that isn’t just historically inspired but an actual reproduction of the A384’s case from 1969 – the first watch to be equipped with the El Primero movement. Using the original blueprints and production plans from over 50 years ago, the case has been faithfully brought back to life in exacting details, save for the domed sapphire crystal and display case back, revealing the El Primero automatic high-frequency chronograph caliber with a power reserve of 50 hours.

Blue dial El Primero watches have always been coveted favorites among chronograph collectors. In the Chronomaster Revival Liberty, Zenith adds a new touch to this popular color, but which could just as well have been made back in 1969. The matte blue dial has a vignetting gradient effect, paired with white chronograph counters for a striking contrast. An outstanding detail in this edition, the central chronograph second hand is painted with red and white stripes and further accentuates the tachymeter scale found on the dial. Fitting the theme, the numerals on the white date wheel are painted in red. To complete the look, the leather and cordura-effect rubber strap is finished in blue with a single red stitch on each side.
