History of the Royal Oak Offshore. The design of the Royal Oak Offshore dates back to 1989 when Audemars Piguet designer, Emmanuel Gueit, presented a conceptual sketch of a more robust Royal Oak. This larger and sportier design was met with criticism by Gerald Genta but younger collectors liked the larger case size.
