Watch Description

This is a very cool and dressy version of the iconic Eterna Kontiki. The Kontiki was a raft built by Thor Heyerdahl for a scientific voyage, with all crew members wearing Eterna Matic watches – Matic being Eterna’s term for automatic. To celebrate the success of the voyage the Kontiki was launched. This example remains in excellent original condition with lovely bevels on the steel case. The case back has the Thor Heyerdahl Kontiki medal.

A.I. Watch Review:

# Eterna Kon-Tiki 1964 Eterna-Matic Review by A.I. WatchMetrics

## Watch Summary
The Eterna Kon-Tiki 1964 Eterna-Matic is a vintage-inspired diver's watch reissuing the iconic 1964 model tied to Thor Heyerdahl's expedition, featuring a robust 42mm stainless steel case, black sunray dial with distinctive bubble-shaped indices and cathedral hands, an offset date at 6 o'clock, unidirectional ceramic dive bezel, and 300m water resistance, powered by the reliable automatic Eterna Caliber 3030 Eterna-Matic movement with 42-hour power reserve—perfect for adventure seekers, divers, and collectors appreciating faithful retro tool-watch aesthetics without modern excess.

## Overall Watch Rating: 7.6/10.0

**Material Metric (9.4/10.0)** - Premium stainless steel construction with double-domed AR-coated sapphire and ceramic bezel surpasses typical mid-tier divers like the Citizen Promaster.

**Cohesiveness Metric (9.3/10.0)** - Seamlessly blends vintage Kon-Tiki heritage with modern execution, creating a unified adventure-ready identity unmatched in its class.

**Dials & Design Metric (8.9/10.0)** - Bubble markers, applied indices, and sunray finish evoke the original's charm, rivaling the appeal of Blancpain Fifty Fathoms reissues.

**History & Innovation Metric (8.4/10.0)** - Deep ties to the 1947 Kon-Tiki voyage and Eterna's ball-bearing legacy provide strong historical weight, akin to Omega's Seamaster heritage.

**Versatility Metric (8.3/10.0)** - Excels as a daily sports diver for water activities or casual wear, comparable to the Tudor's Black Bay in adaptability.

**Brand Metric (7.6/10.0)** - Eterna's Swiss craftsmanship and enthusiast following position it solidly in the entry-level luxury space, much like Oris or Zodiac.

**Movement Metric (7.0/10.0)** - The workhorse Caliber 3030 offers dependable automatic performance with hacking and 42-hour reserve, on par with Sellita SW200-equipped peers.

**Functions Metric (7.0/10.0)** - Core timekeeping, date, and dive bezel deliver essential utility for a tool watch, matching Seiko's Prospex lineup.

**Rarity Metric (6.0/10.0)** - Moderately exclusive due to price and brand scale but widely available new, less scarce than limited-run Doxa Subs.

**Complications Metric (4.0/10.0)** - Simple date window provides basic utility without the complexity of chronographs found in higher-end divers like the Breitling Superocean.

## Total Performance Score (TPS): 4.1

## WM Collector Grade: B-

## Performance Insights: Strong showings in materials, design, and historical cohesiveness offset modest complications and functions, delivering better-than-expected value at secondary prices below the implied performance benchmark.

## TPS Interpretation: Fair Value: The watch offers reliable tool-watch prowess with standout aesthetics and build quality suitable for its accessible price point.
