Watch Description

With its mix of textured whites and racing-themed colour highlights, the Bernina is a modern watch built to be a beautifully bold addition to any wrist. The main dial is a flat matte off-white that’s punctuated by the top two sub-dials being embossed in a brilliant white for some subtle contrast. The main handset is a bold red that matches the glossy Arabic numerals, minute track, and telemetre scale that are printed onto the dial. Both the hour and minute hands are filled with luminous Super-LumiNova and are supported by a matching application along the edge of the dial. Meanwhile, both the running seconds hand and the first quarter of the minute track are a vibrant blue that is strikingly different from the whites and reds used on the majority of the dial.
Around this dial is a white ceramic bezel with an engraved red tachymeter scale to complete the Bernina alpine sports look. This is Farer at its boldest.

As befits sporting watches, the latest Chronograph Sport watches feature cases expertly machined from Grade 2 Titanium. This reduces the weight of the watch by 20% compared to using steel and results in a watch that’s more comfortable to wear. The fully brushed case measures 41mm across and is 13.5mm thick, fitting snugly to the wrist and exuding the sportiness of a racing chronograph. Both the crown and pushers are also made from titanium, and as a finishing touch, the crown is inset with a Farer bronze cap.

Through the flat sapphire crystal case back, you’ll see a Swiss-made Sellita SW510M b Elaboré grade manual movement that’s built for demanding use. It has 23 jewels, with an impressive 63-hour power reserve, and a 4Hz beat rate. The beautifully detailed movement features perlage finishing, blued screws, and a customised main bridge that is engraved Farer monogram chequered sports pattern.

The Farer Bernina Hand-Wound Chronograph was launched at the Bernina Gran Turismo 2019 in celebration of taking part – a race across the Swiss Alps, in which modern-era Formula cars and old-school classics compete over a 5.7 kilometre course between La Rösa and Hospizio Bernina, just outside St. Moritz. Inspired by the famous races held in the region in the 1920s and ‘30s, the race begins at an elevation of 6,138 feet before climbing 1,500 feet further, through 50 challenging curves.
