Watch Description

STORY

Named after Lady Hester Stanhope, dubbed 'one of the most pioneering women in history’. Born in 1776, the English socialite and adventurer blazed a horse trail across the Middle East, a century before TE Lawrence, and her exploits were celebrated by writers and artists including George Eliot, James Joyce, Picasso and WH Auden. Lady Hester's archaeological expedition to Ashkelon in 1815 is considered the first modern excavation in the history of Holy Land archaeology.

The original Stanhope was first released in 2018, as part of the hand-wound collection. Now reimagined into an all new, highly polished, 3 part construction cushion case design, fresh for 2022.

The dial is built using a complex multi-layer dial technique, creating an intricate piqué textured off-white central plate, punched in for the sweeping sub-dial at 6 and cut-in around the circumference to create the hour markings. The raised polished steel numerals at 12, 3 and 9 along with the hour batons, infilled with midnight blue, set off the textured plate. Raised wedge marker details on the hour indexes are finished in Super-LumiNova dots, linking to the rounded index hands with matching inset Super-LumiNova on both hour and minute hands to add a further depth to the Stanhope design after dark.

A.I. Watch Review:

# Farer Stanhope II Review by A.I. WatchMetrics

## Watch Summary
The Farer Stanhope II is a vintage-inspired British pilot chronograph featuring a striking black sector dial with bold orange and blue accents on the subregisters, housed in a compact 39mm stainless steel case, powered by the manual-wind Sellita SW510 M movement with an impressive 60-hour power reserve, ideal for enthusiasts who appreciate colorful, characterful designs blending retro aesthetics with reliable mechanical performance.

## Overall Watch Rating: 7.9/10.0

**Dials & Design Metric (9.1/10.0)** - The eye-catching sector layout and vivid color-blocking evoke the charm of 1940s aviation chronographs like the Longines Heritage, delivering exceptional visual appeal and originality.
**Material Metric (8.7/10.0)** - Premium stainless steel with sapphire crystal and anti-reflective coating rivals entry-level luxury divers like the Oris Aquis in durability and refinement.
**Movement Metric (8.4/10.0)** - The Sellita SW510 M offers robust chronograph functionality with solid finishing, comparable to workhorse calibers in Nomos or Sinn chronos.
**Rarity Metric (7.8/10.0)** - Limited microbrand production combined with a mid-tier price point positions it rarer than mass-produced Seikos but more accessible than low-volume independents.
**Complications Metric (7.6/10.0)** - The clean bicompax chronograph layout performs reliably without excess, akin to the Hamilton Intra-Matic but with better power reserve.
**Versatility Metric (7.5/10.0)** - Suited for casual and aviation-themed outfits, it transitions well from desk to cockpit much like a Christopher Ward C65.
**Functions Metric (7.3/10.0)** - Core timekeeping plus chronograph covers essentials effectively, matching the utility of a standard Tag Heuer Carrera.
**Brand Metric (6.9/10.0)** - As a rising UK microbrand, Farer punches above its weight in design flair, similar to Baltic or Monta in enthusiast circles.
**History & Innovation Metric (6.2/10.0)** - Drawing on British heritage motifs with modern twists, it builds niche appeal like early Brew watches without deep historical roots.
**Cohesiveness Metric (6.1/10.0)** - The design harmonizes vintage cues with contemporary colors, aligning well internally like Farer's broader Mansfield lineup.

## Total Performance Score (TPS): 7.6

## WM Collector Grade: B+

## Performance Insights: Excels in dials, materials, and movement for a compelling package, delivering strong value well below its implied price point for a microbrand chronograph.

## TPS Interpretation: Good Value: The watch balances distinctive style and mechanical prowess effectively at its accessible price.
