Watch Description

OLD SMITH / 90-009

The OLD SMITH 90-009 was designed based on the wristwatch used by the British Army during World War II, known as the "Dirty Dozen." It uses CITIZEN MIYOTA's Japanese-made "Cal.82s5" movement, faithfully reproducing the design of the period.
The watch itself has a 35mm case. Slightly smaller than what is popular these days, it faithfully recreates the size of the original and is a size that works on wrists of all sizes.

### Watch Summary:
The Kuoe Old Smith 90-009 Dirty Dozen Model is a homage to the classic military watches of the mid-20th century, specifically inspired by the "Dirty Dozen" watches commissioned by the British Ministry of Defense during World War II. This watch is designed for enthusiasts who appreciate vintage military aesthetics and historical significance. It features a manual movement, which is a nod to traditional watchmaking, and offers a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. The watch is ideal for collectors who value historical designs and those who enjoy the rugged, utilitarian style of military timepieces.

### Overall Watch Rating: 6.5/10.0

- **History &amp; Innovation Metric (8.0/10.0)**
The Kuoe Old Smith 90-009 pays homage to the historically significant "Dirty Dozen" watches, capturing the essence of military timepieces from the WWII era. While it does not introduce new innovations, its design is a faithful tribute to a pivotal moment in horological history.

- **Dials &amp; Design Metric (7.5/10.0)**
The watch features a classic military dial with legible numerals and a matte finish, staying true to its vintage inspiration. The design is well-executed, though it lacks the artisanal craftsmanship seen in higher-end models.

- **Brand Metric (7.0/10.0)**
Kuoe is a niche brand known for creating vintage-inspired watches. While it does not have the prestige of luxury brands, it holds a respectable position within its market segment for delivering quality homage pieces.

- **Material Metric (6.8/10.0)**
The watch uses standard stainless steel, which is durable but not particularly luxurious. The finishing is adequate for its price range, but it does not feature any rare or high-end materials.

- **Versatility Metric (6.5/10.0)**
The watch is primarily suited for casual and everyday wear, with its military styling limiting its versatility in formal settings. However, it can complement a variety of casual outfits.

- **Functions Metric (6.0/10.0)**
The watch offers basic functionality with time-only display and manual winding. It lacks additional features such as water resistance or lume, which are common in modern watches.

- **Movement Metric (6.0/10.0)**
The manual movement is simple and reliable, reflecting the traditional watchmaking approach. However, it lacks the complexity and finishing of more advanced movements.

- **Rarity Metric (5.5/10.0)**
As a homage piece, the watch is not produced in limited quantities, making it relatively accessible. Its rarity is more about its design inspiration than production numbers.

- **Complications Metric (5.0/10.0)**
The watch is a time-only piece, which is typical for its style and era. It does not feature any additional complications, which limits its score in this metric.

### Celebrity and Historical Figures:
While no specific celebrities are known to wear the Kuoe Old Smith 90-009, the "Dirty Dozen" watches have a rich history associated with British military personnel during World War II. These watches were worn by soldiers and have become iconic in the world of military timepieces. The Kuoe Old Smith 90-009 captures this historical essence, appealing to collectors and enthusiasts of military history.</p>
