Watch Description
Laurent Ferrier’s watchmaking language reconnects us all with the love for classical watchmaking — a living, beating repository of horology’s greatest collective memories. Launched in 2009, the eponymous brand and master watchmaker wields nuanced details inspired by 19th and mid-20th century Swiss watchmaking so artfully that it feels like Laurent Ferrier had already existed for a century or more, already permanently inscribed into the lexicon of horology’s great canon.
We at Revolution and The Rake consider it a privilege to be counted as partners and a chapter in Laurent Ferrier’s own canon, now. After the launch of our first collaborative timepieces, the Laurent Ferrier Classic Origin for Revolution & The Rake and then the Laurent Ferrier Steel Galet Micro-Rotor Automn Dial for Revolution (1-of-1), we’re excited to work again with the master watchmaker, on not one, but two new limited edition timepieces, the 2021 Laurent Ferrier Classic Origin and Classic Micro-Rotor Revolution & The Rake watches.
The 2021 Laurent Ferrier Classic Micro-Rotor Revolution & The Rake is our take on a classic timepiece with a sector, or scientific, dial that has been given a contemporary twist. It features a 40mm stainless steel case (10.70mm thin) with a superb salmon-toned dial decorated using a sunburst finish on the centre and opaline finish behind the chemin de fer. The pronounced sector dial is thereafter formed with the hour circle, chemin de fer, small seconds subdial and logo decals in slate grey. The large applied Breguet numerals used for the 12, 3 and 9 hour markers are solid gold appliques that are ruthenium treated to match the rest of the dial elements.
The movement giving life to the 2021 Laurent Ferrier Classic Micro-Rotor Revolution & The Rake is the par excellence, self-winding FBN 229.01 calibre with micro-rotor and natural escapement. The brilliance of the movement starts with its double direct-impulse on the balance: an exclusive double direct-impulse escapement in silicon directly on the balance, which was inspired by the father of modern horology, Abraham-Louis Breguet. Thanks to the excellent efficiency of this escapement, the micro-rotor automatic timepiece is in turn made more efficient, with reduced torque required to wind its mainspring.
The 2021 Laurent Ferrier Classic Micro-Rotor Revolution & The Rake will be issued as a limited edition of just 12 pieces, priced at USD 54,500.
