Watch Description

The Maxton is a sporty three-dial chronograph featuring an in-house designed 39MM cushion case.  Powered by a Swiss quartz movement, and accented by a lumed ceramic bezel, the Maxton is a truly unique piece.  Pair the Maxton with either a Honey-Brown or Black three-hole rally strap that is made from super soft Horween leather.  All Maxtons are assembled in America.

The Maxton draws its name from the famous Maxton Mile in North Carolina, a land speed track built on an old army air base. Back when it was in use, the mile-long track allowed racers to push their vehicles to the limit and achieve the highest speed during the one mile distance.

On the Maxton, the tachymeter function of the bezel requires the user to know a standard measure of distance. The Maxton Mile was exactly one mile long, making it the perfect namesake.

# McDowell Time The Maxton Review by A.I. WatchMetrics

## Watch Summary
The Maxton by McDowell Time is a versatile tool dive watch with a sporty yet refined design, boasting a 40mm 316L stainless steel case, unidirectional ceramic bezel featuring the brand's innovative Bezel-Lock system for secure operation, a clean black dial with applied indices and Super-LumiNova lume, and the workhorse Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement with 38 hours of power reserve, targeting value-driven enthusiasts and adventurers who demand robust 200m water resistance and premium microbrand finishing at an accessible price point.

## Overall Watch Rating: 6.7/10.0

**Material Metric (9.3/10.0)** - Premium 316L stainless steel construction, dual-sided AR-coated sapphire crystal, and ceramic bezel deliver top-tier durability on par with Oris divers.
**Versatility Metric (8.9/10.0)** - Excellent 40mm proportions, 200m rating, and strap/bracelet compatibility make it adaptable from beach dives to daily office wear like a Tudor Black Bay.
**Dials & Design Metric (8.9/10.0)** - The crisp dial layout, bold lume, and signature Bezel-Lock add distinctive flair comparable to Sinn's functional aesthetics.
**Movement Metric (8.2/10.0)** - The Sellita SW200-1 offers reliable in-house regulation and smooth sweeping seconds akin to well-tuned ETA 2824 clones in Hamilton Khakis.
**Brand Metric (6.5/10.0)** - McDowell Time punches above its microbrand weight with enthusiast-grade quality similar to Christopher Ward's accessible premium tier.
**Rarity Metric (5.6/10.0)** - Limited production keeps it scarcer than mass-market Seikos but more available than ultra-low-run indies.
**Functions Metric (6.0/10.0)** - Core timekeeping with date and secure dive bezel provides solid utility matching entry-level Omega Seamaster specs.
**History & Innovation Metric (3.5/10.0)** - Recent brand heritage with clever Bezel-Lock innovation offers niche appeal but lacks the legacy of established names like Blancpain.
**Complications Metric (3.0/10.0)** - Simple date window and bezel function deliver basics without the complexity of higher-end chronographs.

## Total Performance Score (TPS): 7.5

## WM Collector Grade: A-

## Performance Insights: Excels in materials, versatility, design, and movement quality while lagging in brand history and complications, delivering strong value well above its implied price equivalent.
