Watch Description
Patek Philippe introduced the Nautilus in 1976. Since then, it’s become one of the brand’s most sought-after watches.
Reference 5711 was also introduced in 2006. It has a 43-mm-diameter case, surpassing the original Nautilus by 1 mm. (Measured without the crown, from 10 o’clock to 4 o’clock, it is 40 mm.) The classic three-hand watch in steel has a steel bracelet and a black-blue dial. The watch is powered by in-house Caliber 315 S C with a centrally mounted oscillating weight. It is a worthy successor to the original version and mirrors the look of that model, but with an added central sweep seconds hand. This model was a real hit and demand far exceeded supply.

# Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711 “Blue” Review by A.I. WatchMetrics
## Watch Summary
The Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711 “Blue” (Ref. 5711/1A-010) is an iconic sports luxury watch with Gerald Genta's legendary porthole-shaped stainless steel case and integrated bracelet, featuring a distinctive embossed blue dial with luminous white gold indices and hands; it targets affluent collectors and enthusiasts seeking understated elegance with 120m water resistance, powered by the exquisite in-house automatic Caliber 324 S C movement with 45 hours of power reserve.
## Overall Watch Rating: 8.5/10.0
**Brand Metric (9.9/10.0)** - Patek Philippe stands at the pinnacle of haute horlogerie with unparalleled heritage and exclusivity, rivaling the likes of F.P. Journe and Richard Mille.
**History & Innovation Metric (9.8/10.0)** - This Nautilus model pioneered the luxury sports watch category in 1976, delivering enduring cultural impact comparable to the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak.
**Rarity Metric (9.9/10.0)** - Discontinued production and explosive secondary demand make it scarcer than most Rolex Daytonas, with prices soaring well above original retail.
**Dials & Design Metric (9.9/10.0)** - The embossed blue dial and perfectly proportioned Genta case exemplify flawless harmony and timeless appeal, on par with the most celebrated designs in watchmaking.
**Material Metric (9.7/10.0)** - Premium stainless steel with satin-brushed and polished finishes paired with dual anti-reflective sapphire rivals the material execution of top-tier Rolex Submariners.
**Versatility Metric (9.4/10.0)** - Seamlessly transitions from boardroom to yacht deck, offering broader wearability than dedicated tool watches like the Omega Seamaster.
**Movement Metric (9.3/10.0)** - The Caliber 324 S C delivers Geneva Seal-level finishing, accuracy, and reliability akin to elite in-house efforts from A. Lange & Söhne.
**Functions Metric (4.8/10.0)** - Basic timekeeping with date suffices for daily use but pales against multifunction rivals like the Grand Seiko Spring Drive models.
**Complications Metric (4.0/10.0)** - A solitary date at 3 o'clock provides minimal complexity, lagging behind peers like the IWC Portugieser with additional indications.
## Total Performance Score (TPS): 4.0
## WM Collector Grade: C
## Performance Insights: Exceptional strengths in brand, history, rarity, design, materials, versatility, and movement are tempered by basic complications and functions, positioning it as modest value against an implied price of $340,000 given current secondary markets around $140,000.
## TPS Interpretation: Below Average Value: Iconic status and scarcity command a premium, but limited functionality tempers overall bang-for-buck at prevailing prices.
