Watch Description

Paulin is a brand founded in 2013 by three sisters named Elizabeth, Charlotte and Eleanor Paulin. With headquarters in Glasgow, Scotland, Paulin is a company that is all about family, creativity, and the support of local UK artists. While the company was initially created with the premise of offering high-quality, design-focused watches, Paulin has expanded over the years to offer everything from leather goods and watch straps to a best-selling wall clock and even an umbrella. Beyond making forward-thinking products, Paulin is fully embedded in the Glasgow creative community and works closely with artists from the region, while its Stockbridge location in Edinburgh offers a curation space for creatives and provides an accessible platform to showcase local talent.

Paulin has never shied away from creating watches that are fun, colorful and a bit quirky. This has separated them from many of their peers. With that mindset of design, they have introduced a new watch into their catalogue that doubles down on that thesis. Introducing the Modul.

The Modul watch is a collection of compact and slim timepieces that have a bold color palette and a sleek tonneau-shaped case. Each watch makes use of a 35mm wide, 8.2mm case that features a modular design. The black steel body houses the movement, distinct from the brushed steel outer case. This allows for different movement calibers to be accommodated, thus leading to a quartz and mechanical version of each Modul. The clear differentiator between the two being the small seconds sub dial used on the mechanical version while the quartz version features a simple 3 hand layout.

The Modul comes in three distinct versions. The Modul A with its bright yellow dial. The Modul B with its brown dial. And finally, the Modul C, with its cotton candy pink dial.

The watches in the Modul collection are powered by either one of the following movements: the La Joux Perret improved D100 movement, featuring blued screws and Geneva stripes visible through an exhibition caseback. It beats at 21,600vph and has a 50hr power reserve. The other option is the quartz ETA 955.112 which has 7 jewels and should run 4-5 years on a new battery.
