Watch Description

Rado originally launched the Captain Cook MKII diver's watch in 1962. This model offered a remarkable 22 bar (220 mt / 720 feet) water resistance and was equipped with an inner turning bezel capable of measuring up to 80 minutes of elapsed dive time.

The Captain Cook MKII makes now a comeback retaining the original features, including waterproofness, while adding important enhancements.

The look of the watch is strongly characterized by its red and white inner bezel, natural coloured Super-LumiNova dots and rhodium coloured hands and indices which stand out against the matt black dial.  All protected by a box shaped sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides.

A.I. Watch Review:

# Rado Captain Cook MKII LE-1962 Review by A.I. WatchMetrics

## Watch Summary
The Rado Captain Cook MKII LE-1962 is a vintage-inspired dive watch reissuing the brand's groundbreaking 1962 original, blending retro aesthetics with contemporary robustness in a 42mm stainless steel case topped by a bidirectional Ceramos ceramic bezel and a captivating blue gradient sunburst dial, ideal for enthusiasts and collectors seeking a limited edition (1,962 pieces) piece with 300m water resistance and an automatic movement offering 80 hours of power reserve.

## Overall Watch Rating: 7.6/10.0

**Material Metric (9.0/10.0)** - Premium stainless steel paired with a durable Ceramos ceramic bezel insert and AR-coated sapphire crystal delivers exceptional build quality comparable to Omega's ceramic-bezel divers.

**Versatility Metric (8.8/10.0)** - This robust diver transitions seamlessly from underwater adventures to casual wear, outperforming many single-purpose tool watches in everyday adaptability.

**Dials & Design Metric (8.7/10.0)** - The gradient blue sunburst dial with applied indices and strong lume captures vintage charm with modern legibility, on par with Tudor Black Bay aesthetics.

**Brand Metric (8.0/10.0)** - Rado's Swiss heritage in innovative materials earns entry-level luxury status, similar to Oris or Longines in premium accessibility.

**Cohesiveness Metric (8.0/10.0)** - The watch's unified vintage diver theme with limited edition detailing creates a strong, collectible identity akin to well-executed brand reissues.

**Movement Metric (7.8/10.0)** - The COSC-certified ETA C07.621-based automatic with 80-hour reserve offers reliable performance matching mid-tier Swiss workhorses like the Sellita SW200 family.

**History & Innovation Metric (7.7/10.0)** - Rooted in Rado's pioneering 1962 diver history with modern ceramic bezel innovation, it holds steady against established reissues like the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms.

**Functions Metric (7.3/10.0)** - Core timekeeping, date, and dive-ready features provide solid utility, though it trails multifunction rivals like the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf.

**Rarity Metric (6.5/10.0)** - Limited to 1,962 pieces at around $4,300 MSRP, it offers moderate exclusivity similar to other mid-production limited editions from Nomos or Junghans.

**Complications Metric (3.9/10.0)** - A simple date window delivers basic functionality, falling short of complication-rich pieces like those from Zenith.

## Total Performance Score (TPS): 9.9

## WM Collector Grade: A+

## Performance Insights: Excels in materials, versatility, and design while offering outstanding value with a TPS far exceeding expectations for its price, making it a steal compared to the implied $12,500 fair value.

## TPS Interpretation: Exceptional Value: The watch punches well above its weight with heritage, specs, and limited appeal at a fraction of its performance-implied price.
