Collector Description

My father had an accutron when I was 7. For me it was my dad’s watch and it was the only humming watch around me ! I was so proud.

He had a 218 movement. Then I grew up and red about the 214 Space View. I was totally blown away by such modernity and simplicity (12 moving parts).

I made music for a lot of watch brands : tag Heuer, urwerk, Baume, zenith, Vuitton, Chanel, EBEL etc.

The 2020 came and I get obsessed by the 2020 Accutron model (which doesn’t hum so it’s sad for a musician like me 🤣) and when I turned 50 it was mine ! When you have a 1966 model, it’s a « must » to have the 2020 too ! 😉👍🏻

A.I. Collection Review:
# 2 Watch Collection - Accutron (50%) / Bulova (50%) Review by A.I. WatchMetrics ## Collection Summary This compact collection celebrates the groundbreaking Spaceview lineage from Accutron and Bulova, featuring open-dial designs that expose innovative movements—a modern electrostatic hand-wound caliber in the Accutron 2020 alongside a high-frequency Precisionist quartz—targeting enthusiasts of horological history, smooth-sweeping seconds, and minimalist sci-fi aesthetics with 24-hour power reserves on the flagship and battery life on the accessible sibling. **"Iconic Spaceview Electronic Duo"** ## Overall Collection Rating: 7.5/10.0 **History & Innovation Metric (9.7/10.0)** - Outstanding pioneering role, much like the original tuning fork Accutron that obsoleted mechanical escapements in 1960. **Dials & Design Metric (9.3/10.0)** - Exceptional open-heart minimalism with stick markers and visible mechanics, rivaling the artistic appeal of a Patek Philippe Calatrava. **Cohesiveness Metric (9.4/10.0)** - Near-perfect thematic unity around Spaceview heritage and electronic innovation, stronger than most brand-specific duos. **Movement Metric (8.7/10.0)** - Impressive blend of electrostatic regulator and 262kHz quartz, delivering superior smoothness beyond typical automatics like an ETA 2824. **Material Metric (8.4/10.0)** - High-quality stainless steel cases with sapphire crystals and refined finishing, on par with Oris or Tudor builds. **Versatility Metric (7.6/10.0)** - Strong across dress-casual-statement occasions but limited sports utility, comparable to a Nomos Club Campus set. **Brand Metric (5.5/10.0)** - Reliable mid-tier prestige with American innovation legacy, akin to Citizen's higher-end offerings. **Rarity Metric (5.8/10.0)** - Moderate exclusivity from limited production runs, similar to Christopher Ward special editions. **Functions Metric (5.8/10.0)** - Solid timekeeping with smooth seconds but lacks complications, matching basic Seiko 5 performance. **Complications Metric (5.2/10.0)** - Minimal beyond movement display, average for simple tool watches like a Timex Marlin. ## Total Performance Score (TPS): 9.9 ## TPS Interpretation: Exceptional Value: The collection punches far above its price weight with revolutionary movements and designs that outperform expectations for mid-luxury electronics. ## WM Collector Grade: A+ ## Performance Insights: Dominated by history, design, and cohesion for standout heritage value well exceeding the implied price of ~$1,100, though functions and rarity temper the highs. ## Collection Type by Style Statement and Dress dominant, with strong Casual crossover; subtle Tool vibes from water resistance, evoking vintage sci-fi without heavy sports lean. ## Collection Type by Movement Electrostatic hand-wound (Accutron 2020) and high-frequency quartz (Bulova), unified by ultra-smooth seconds and electronic heritage diverging from mainstream mechanicals. ## Collection Strengths - Revolutionary movement technologies offering silent, accurate sweeps unmatched in most collections. - Timeless open-dial aesthetics providing visual intrigue and conversation starters. - Tight thematic focus amplifying perceived value and display cohesion. ## Ideas for Improvement 1. Add a genuine 1960s vintage Accutron Spaceview for raw historical authenticity. 2. Introduce a GMT or diver variant to expand travel/adventure versatility. 3. Incorporate an automatic mechanical contrast to highlight the electronics' uniqueness. ## Downsizing Advice Keep both watches—they form a balanced, irreplaceable pair representing Accutron's past and present without overlap, ideal for a minimalist collector focused on innovation over quantity. ## Watch by Watch Summary **Accutron Spaceview 2020 (3450):** Modern flagship with electrostatic Caliber ACC-02S hand-wind movement, 40mm stainless case, domed sapphire, and 50m WR, embodying cutting-edge revival of tuning fork legacy. **Bulova Accutron Spaceview (600):** Approachable 43.5mm Precisionist quartz powerhouse at 262kHz for flawless sweeps, 100m WR, and exhibition caseback, delivering everyday accessibility to Spaceview magic. **A.I.
