Collector Description

My German two-watch collection - Looking for repair advice on the Junghans.

Well I wanted to show off my perfect (to me) two-watch German collection consisting of a Sinn 556 | B and a Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope. I feel like these two watches do so much heavy lifting and are appropriate for just about any occasion/ dress. Couldn't be happier with my choices! I got the Sinn before my first trip to Austria/ Germany this year to meet my girlfriend's family for the first time - We got engaged on the trip! So there's lots of sentiment there. I bought the Junghans when I got back to balance it out :-)

A couple weeks ago my dearest fiancé (who likes to speak with her hands) accidentally swatted the Junghans out of my hands while I was getting undressed and it hit the bathroom tile, cracking the domed plexiglass crystal. :-(

I went through the repair form submission on Junghans' website only to reach the end and not have an option for residents outside of Austria and Germany. Does anyone have any repair advice they can help me with? If I can get a domed Saphire crystal that would be great, but from what i understand the plexiglass just has a better vintage look to it. I'd like to keep this repaired directly by Junghans if possible but I'm open to anything. Any advice is welcome, thank you!

A.I. Collection Review:
# 2 Watch Collection - Junghans (50%) / Sinn (50%) Review by A.I. WatchMetrics ## Collection Summary This duo exemplifies German watchmaking prowess, pairing the Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope's minimalist Bauhaus chronograph elegance—powered by an automatic ETA-based movement with 48-hour power reserve—with the Sinn 556 I's bead-blasted pilot tool watch featuring a Sellita automatic and 200m water resistance, appealing to collectors seeking refined dress capability alongside rugged daily utility. **"German Bauhaus-Pilot Duo"** ## Overall Collection Rating: 6.8/10.0 **Dials & Design Metric (8.7/10.0)** - Iconic sector dial on the Max Bill rivals vintage Patek Philippe simplicity while Sinn's matte black indices outshine standard Hamilton Khaki pilots for legibility. **Material Metric (8.4/10.0)** - Stainless steel cases with double-domed sapphire AR crystals and meticulous brushing deliver Oris-level durability without excess cost. **Versatility Metric (8.1/10.0)** - Seamlessly covers boardroom formals to weekend hikes, outperforming narrow single-style sets like Seiko diver quads. **Cohesiveness Metric (7.3/10.0)** - Unified by Teutonic minimalism and engineering focus, though diverges more than monochromatic Tudor Black Bay collections. **History & Innovation Metric (7.2/10.0)** - Draws from Junghans' Bauhaus revival and Sinn's Luftwaffe-tested pilots, surpassing generic Citizen field watches. **Brand Metric (6.7/10.0)** - High-premium enthusiast favorites like Christopher Ward, enhanced by low-production German exclusivity. **Movement Metric (6.4/10.0)** - Proven Sellita SW200 and ETA 7750 clones offer Hamilton Khaki reliability without bespoke flourishes. **Functions Metric (6.2/10.0)** - Chrono plus date provide solid utility beyond Tissot PRX basics but shy of multifunction TAG Heuers. **Rarity Metric (4.6/10.0)** - Readily available production runs mirror common Tissot Seastars in the $1,200 range. **Complications Metric (4.0/10.0)** - One chronograph adds flair comparable to entry Omega but lacks depth of multi-comp IWC pilots. ## Total Performance Score (TPS): 4.0 ## TPS Interpretation: Slightly Below Average Value: The collection punches above basic mid-tier expectations in design and materials but trails in rarity and complication sophistication for its ~$1,275 average price. ## WM Collector Grade: C ## Performance Insights: Dials, materials, and versatility stand out as premium strengths, offset by middling rarity and functions; mild overpricing relative to implied ~$900 equilibrium value. ## Collection Type by Style - Dress/Formal (50%) - Pilot/Tool/Adventure (50%) - Collector (50%) ## Collection Type by Movement - Automatic (100%) ## Collection Strengths Timeless Bauhaus and pilot aesthetics ensure enduring appeal; robust materials support long-term wear; complementary roles maximize daily rotation without overlap. ## Ideas for Improvement 1. Add a microbrand GMT for travel versatility and innovation boost. 2. Include higher-WR diver to expand tool-watch depth. 3. Swap one for in-house movement model to elevate prestige. ## Downsizing Advice Ideal minimal pair with no redundancy—retain both for perfect dress/tool balance; if forced, prioritize Sinn for superior everyday toughness over Junghans' niche elegance. ## Watch by Watch Summary **Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope**: Bauhaus purity shines in 44mm chronograph form with sector dial and 48h automatic, ideal for collectors valuing design heritage. **Sinn 556 I**: 38.5mm pilot icon boasts 200m resistance, matte dial legibility, and Sellita reliability for unyielding tool performance. **A.I.
