Finally my Goal-Watch and SOTC Update

The Aqua Terra has been my nuclear fusion watch for a little over 2 years.... Just in reach but never mine. Now that my #grandseiko had opened my mind to selling my collection, suddenly the AT was actually realisitic.

I sold part of my collection to pay for the GS and thought: what the hell, sell the rest and get the AT.

Not only did I reduce my 12-14 watch collection to now 3 daily wear watches, but I was also once again able to go through the satisfying process of selling my watches and seeing the cash roll in 😂

The Aqua Terra in question is the 38mm blue teak dial version. I had the 41mm green dial variant on my mind for a while, but switched to 38mm for wearability reasons.

Not that I have my goal watch (not calling it a grail, since I recon a grail will never be achievable 😉) I actually don't have any other watches on my list. Does this mean I'm done? Probably not. But I'm very content with my 3-watch collection, to say the least.

A.I. Collection Review:
# 3 Watch Collection - Grand Seiko (33%) / Longines (33%) / Omega (33%) Review by A.I. WatchMetrics ## Collection Summary This curated trio unites Japanese artistry and Swiss precision in a cohesive luxury lineup: the limited-edition Grand Seiko SBGW303 evokes timeless 44GS elegance with its Mount Iwate dial, the Longines Spirit delivers aviation-inspired robustness, and the Omega Aqua Terra 38mm offers refined sports versatility—ideal for the sophisticated collector valuing heritage, wearability, and high-beat movements with 50-72 hour power reserves. **"Heritage Luxury Harmony"** ## Overall Collection Rating: 7.5/10.0 **Brand Metric (7.8/10.0)** - Grand Seiko and Omega anchor luxury prestige while Longines adds high-premium solidity, comparable to an Oris-Tudor elevated by Japanese refinement. **History & Innovation Metric (8.0/10.0)** - Leverages Grand Seiko's iconic 44GS legacy, Omega's pioneering Seamaster line, and Longines' aviation heritage for established yet innovative appeal. **Rarity Metric (6.8/10.0)** - Elevated by the Grand Seiko's 400-piece Europe LE, tempered by the more accessible Longines and Omega, akin to a semi-exclusive enthusiast set. **Material Metric (8.6/10.0)** - Stainless steel cases with sapphire crystals, Zaratsu polishing on GS, and laser-ablated Omega patterns deliver near-luxury depth with solid breadth. **Movement Metric (8.9/10.0)** - Standouts include GS's hand-wound 9S64, Omega's METAS-certified 8800, and Longines' COSC L888, blending exceptional finishing, accuracy, and manual-auto diversity. **Complications Metric (4.2/10.0)** - Limited to basic date windows across the set, standard for a style-focused collection without advanced features. **Functions Metric (5.6/10.0)** - Core time-plus-date utility suits daily needs, matching mid-tier automatics like a Hamilton Khaki. **Dials & Design Metric (9.1/10.0)** - Breathtaking Mount Iwate scenery, Spirit's textured sunburst, and Aqua Terra's teak pattern in complementary cases rival Patek-level artistry. **Versatility Metric (8.7/10.0)** - Spans dress, pilot, and sports seamlessly for office-to-adventure rotation, outperforming single-style collections. **Cohesiveness Metric (7.6/10.0)** - Elegant luxury theme binds diverse JP-CH origins and silhouettes into a balanced, rotatable trio. ## Total Performance Score (TPS): 9.9 ## TPS Interpretation: Outstanding Value: The collection dramatically overperforms relative to its ~$5,200 average price, offering luxury-level execution at a fraction of comparable sets. ## WM Collector Grade: A+ ## Performance Insights: Shines in dials & design, movement excellence, and versatility with minor gaps in complications; delivers the holistic value of a $18,000+ lineup. ## Collection Type by Style - Dress/Formal: Grand Seiko SBGW303 - Pilot/Field: Longines Spirit - Sports/Versatile: Omega Aqua Terra 38mm ## Collection Type by Movement - Manual Wind: Grand Seiko (9S64, 72h reserve) - Automatic: Longines (L888, ~72h reserve), Omega (Cal. 8800, 55h reserve) ## Collection Strengths - World-class dial aesthetics and case finishing that punch into haute horology territory. - Diverse yet complementary movements with top-tier accuracy certifications. - Excellent rotation balance for daily wear across occasions. ## Ideas for Improvement 1. Incorporate a chronograph (e.g., Omega Speedmaster) to boost complication depth. 2. Add a dedicated GMT for enhanced travel functionality and style breadth. 3. Include a microbrand diver to inject modern tool-watch energy without diluting luxury. ## Downsizing Advice This tight three-watch set is optimally balanced with no weak links—retain all for perfect niche coverage (dress heritage, pilot reliability, sports elegance); if forced to downsize to two, prioritize the Grand Seiko for rarity and the Omega for versatility, as the Longines Spirit echoes similar pilot traits available at lower cost elsewhere. ## Watch by Watch Summary **Grand Seiko Heritage Mount Iwate 44GS Europe LE-400 SBGW303**: Captivates with its 400-piece limited 36.5mm 44GS case, poetic Mount Iwate dial, and precise 9S64 manual movement at an accessible luxury price. **Longines Spirit**: Punches above its weight with COSC certification, 40mm aviation-ready build, and textured dial in a value-packed Swiss automatic. **Omega Aqua Terra Seamaster 38mm**: Excels in slim 38mm wearability, teak dial refinement, METAS 8800 power, and 150m resistance for effortless sophistication. **A.I.
