3 - IWC / Depancel / Tudor - 202406242236
Collector Description

This is my current 3 watch rotation. Can you tell I have a thing for Chronos....The Microbrand Depancel is new, and I just love the blue and orange color, so it has that new car smell and has been dominating my 3 watch rotation. LOL The IWC has always been my favorite and always finds a place in any rotation. And the Tudor, has been growing on me, when I got it, I was so-so and was thinking I should have got the white dial chrono. Not anymore, that black has won me over and is a current favorite.

Buy what you like and pay no attention to what you think others will say. There is a style in every budget that suits everyone!

A.I. Collection Review:
# 3 Watch Collection - IWC (33%) / Tudor (33%) / Depancel (33%) Review by A.I. WatchMetrics ## Collection Summary This compact collection revolves around chronograph expertise, blending the elegant, heritage-driven IWC Portugieser Chronograph with the rugged, high-performance Tudor Black Bay Chrono and the accessible, modern manual-wind Depancel Allure, appealing to enthusiasts seeking variety in complication-focused pieces from luxury to microbrand tiers with automatic and manual movements offering 44–70 hours of power reserve. **"Chrono Tier Trio"** ## Overall Collection Rating: 8.0/10.0 **Brand Metric (7.4/10.0)** - Blending IWC's luxury stature with Tudor's entry-premium reliability and Depancel's microbrand enthusiasm mirrors the appeal of a curated Oris-Christopher Ward lineup. **History & Innovation Metric (7.1/10.0)** - IWC's iconic Portugieser line carries significant heritage weight, bolstered by Tudor's modern in-house advances, though Depancel's youth tempers the overall innovation like a solid Hamilton assemblage. **Rarity Metric (6.2/10.0)** - Secondary market availability keeps IWC and Tudor common, but Depancel's limited production adds scarcity akin to early microbrand drops on Chrono24. **Material Metric (8.3/10.0)** - Stainless steel cases with sapphire crystals dominate, elevated by IWC and Tudor's refined brushing and AR coatings, comparable to premium Sinn durability without excess repetition. **Movement Metric (8.4/10.0)** - Tudor's MT5813 COSC-certified powerhouse leads with 70-hour reserve, complemented by IWC's reliable 79350 and Depancel's capable Sellita manual, rivaling Nomos-level execution. **Complications Metric (8.7/10.0)** - Full chronograph functions across the board, with Tudor's 45-minute counter adding nuance, on par with elite Tag Heuer Carreras. **Functions Metric (7.9/10.0)** - Chronograph, date, and small seconds provide robust utility, matching the everyday competence of a Seiko Presage Sharp Edged. **Dials & Design Metric (8.6/10.0)** - IWC's classic railway-track silver dial shines iconically, Tudor's panda layout pops sportily, and Depancel offers fresh aesthetics, evoking Grand Seiko refinement. **Versatility Metric (8.2/10.0)** - Spans dress occasions (IWC) to adventure-ready (Tudor 200m), with Depancel fitting casual slots, similar to a versatile Longines HydroConquest set. **Cohesiveness Metric (8.8/10.0)** - Unified chronograph theme ties disparate brands and styles seamlessly, enhanced by complication synergy like a purposeful Breitling Navitimer group. ## Total Performance Score (TPS): 8.5 ## TPS Interpretation: Strong Value: The collection significantly outperforms price-expected performance through superior complications and cohesive chronograph focus. ## WM Collector Grade: A ## Performance Insights: Dominates in complications, design, and movement quality while maintaining high cohesiveness; delivers enthusiast-level satisfaction well above the implied average price. ## Collection Type by Style - Dress/Formal: 33% (IWC Portugieser Chronograph) - Sports/Tool: 67% (Tudor Black Bay Chrono, Depancel Allure Manual Chronograph) ## Collection Type by Movement - Automatic: 67% (IWC, Tudor) - Manual Wind: 33% (Depancel) ## Collection Strengths - Tight thematic unity around chronographs ensures every piece serves a shared purpose. - Exceptional movement diversity and performance punch above the collective price weight. - Broad style coverage from boardroom elegance to active pursuits maximizes daily wear potential. ## Ideas for Improvement 1. Incorporate a vintage chronograph like a 1960s Valjoux-powered piece to boost historical depth. 2. Add a flyback chronograph for enhanced usability and technical flair. 3. Include a high-end independent like Ming or H. Moser to elevate micro-to-luxury balance. ## Downsizing Advice Prioritize retaining the Tudor Black Bay Chrono for its unmatched versatility and value, paired with the IWC for prestige; the Depancel could be the first to go if streamlining to two, as it overlaps stylistically but lacks brand cachet. ## Watch by Watch Summary **IWC Portugieser Chronograph (2007) IW371417**: Timeless dress chronograph icon with refined silver dial, automatic 79350 movement, and subtle 30m elegance at a compelling secondary price. **Depancel Allure Manual Chronograph**: Budget-friendly French manual chronograph offering fresh design and Sellita reliability for entry-level complication fans. **Tudor Black Bay Chrono**: Beating heart of the collection with COSC-certified MT5813, 200m prowess, and panda dial sportiness for all-conditions performance. **A.I.
