Fell in love with watches over a decade ago. In the last two years I finally took the plunge. I started with the Omega Speedmaster. Great watch, great look, great history. Next I snagged the BB58 after coming across it in McLean, VA after it being sold out for a bit. Finally this year I purchased the Cartier De Santos. I’ve loved this watch for the last 8 years and decided it was time.

Looking for suggestions on the next piece. Considering going with IWC for a Portugieser Chronograph or maybe something in the Glashütte Original family. I’ve also been eyeing the explorer II for a while so that’s in the mix. Thoughts?

A.I. Watch Collection Review

8.3

# **3 Watches – Omega (33%) / Cartier (33%) / Tudor (33%) Collection Review by A.I. WatchMetrics**

## **Collection Summary**

**"Timeless Icons"**

This **three-watch collection balances heritage, functionality, and everyday versatility.** It includes **one of the most iconic chronographs ever made, a legendary integrated-bracelet dress/sport watch, and a vintage-inspired dive watch.** Each piece represents a major pillar in horology, with **Omega, Cartier, and Tudor offering distinct strengths in design, innovation, and wearability.**

- **The Omega Moonwatch Professional** is **NASA-certified, with a Co-Axial Master Chronometer movement, superior chronograph functions, and rich historical significance.**
- **The Cartier Santos Medium** provides an **elegant yet sporty aesthetic, making it one of the most recognizable dress/sport hybrid watches.**
- **The Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight** is **a refined, compact dive watch inspired by vintage Rolex Submariners, offering high water resistance and a versatile aesthetic.**

This collection excels in **history, versatility, and material diversity, covering chronograph, dress/sport, and dive watch categories.** However, it **lacks a dedicated travel complication (GMT or world-time) and a watch with advanced materials like ceramic or titanium.**

---

## **Overall Collection Rating: 8.3/10.0**

- **History & Innovation Metric (9.5/10.0)**
**The Omega Moonwatch’s NASA legacy, the Cartier Santos’ role in pioneering wristwatches, and the Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight’s heritage-based design all contribute to a near-perfect historical score.**

- **Versatility Metric (9.2/10.0)**
**The collection covers dress, casual, and sport occasions with three highly adaptable designs, though it lacks a true travel watch.**

- **Dials & Design Metric (9.0/10.0)**
**The Santos’ refined elegance, the Moonwatch’s legibility-focused design, and the Black Bay Fifty-Eight’s vintage styling ensure a strong score in aesthetics.**

- **Functions Metric (8.7/10.0)**
**The Moonwatch provides a highly legible chronograph, the Black Bay Fifty-Eight delivers serious dive watch capability, and the Santos offers everyday functionality with refined finishing.**

- **Brand Metric (8.5/10.0)**
**Omega, Cartier, and Tudor are all prestigious brands with strong reputations in their respective fields, contributing to a well-balanced brand presence.**

- **Material Metric (8.0/10.0)**
**The collection primarily features stainless steel, but Cartier’s polished surfaces and Omega’s high-grade finishing elevate the score. More material diversity would help.**

- **Movement Metric (8.0/10.0)**
**The Omega Moonwatch’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer movement is exceptional, but the Cartier and Tudor use reliable yet less innovative calibers.**

- **Rarity Metric (7.5/10.0)**
**None of these watches are particularly rare or limited, though they hold high desirability and some production constraints.**

- **Complications Metric (7.3/10.0)**
**The Moonwatch’s chronograph is the standout complication, while the other two are time-only, limiting the overall complexity score.**

- **Cohesiveness Metric (7.0/10.0)**
**While the collection is well-curated, it could feel more cohesive with a consistent theme, such as all vintage-inspired or all modern luxury watches.**

---

## **Collection Strengths**

- **Three historically significant, timeless designs that will never go out of style.**
- **A strong balance between sport, casual, and dress use cases.**
- **Each watch is an icon in its respective category.**
- **Excellent finishing across all models, particularly with the Cartier Santos.**

---

## **Ideas for Improvement**

1. **Introduce a GMT for Travel Functionality**
- **Suggested Addition:** **Rolex Explorer II (≈$10,000)** – A rugged GMT watch that complements the collection’s mix of vintage inspiration and practicality.

2. **Enhance Material Variety with Titanium or Ceramic**
- **Suggested Addition:** **Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Black Ceramic (≈$9,000)** – A modern ceramic dive watch that introduces a different aesthetic and material innovation.

3. **Add a Dress Watch with a Complication**
- **Suggested Addition:** **JLC Master Ultra Thin Moon (≈$10,500)** – A refined dress watch with a moonphase complication to diversify the collection’s features.

---

## **Downsizing Advice**

If reducing to **two watches,** consider keeping the **Omega Moonwatch Professional and the Cartier Santos Medium.** This would retain **historical significance, dress/sport versatility, and an iconic chronograph.** The **Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight, while excellent, overlaps with the Santos in casual versatility.**

---

## **Final Thoughts**

This **three-watch collection is well-curated, covering major horological icons with strong design and functionality.** Adding a **GMT or material diversity would make it even more well-rounded,** but it remains a **highly wearable, historically significant trio.**
