Collector Description

I have been collecting watches for a few years now, but while I do enjoy and admire the complexity and finesse of a mechanical watch, you can't beat the comfort offered by an always working quartz.

Not much to say about the Seiko's are they're pretty readily available, but I consider this Aubry era Doxa to be the find of a lifetime. I never expected to get my hands on one, specially one in such an amazing condition.

These are the watches I wear about 300 days / year.

A.I. Collection Review:
# 3 Watch Collection - Seiko (67%) / Doxa (33%) Review by A.I. WatchMetrics ## Collection Summary This compact collection showcases quartz-powered tool watches with a vintage bent, featuring two 1980s Seiko chronographs—the angular, integrated-bracelet 7A38-7020 nicknamed "Royal Oak" for its bold Audemars Piguet vibes and the square-cased 7A28-7020 tied to James Bond film legacy—alongside the modern Swiss Doxa Sub 600 Pro Pepsi Aubry quartz diver boasting 600m water resistance and a rotating red-blue bezel, ideal for budget-conscious collectors chasing reliable sports timing and dive readiness without mechanical fuss. **"Vintage Quartz Chrono-Diver Mix"** ## Overall Collection Rating: 6.6/10.0 **Functions Metric (8.2/10.0)** - Loaded chronograph subdials, date windows, and a rotating dive bezel deliver everyday utility on par with Citizen Promaster divers. **Material Metric (8.0/10.0)** - Stainless steel cases with brushed finishes and a mix of mineral/sapphire crystals offer robust build quality akin to Oris divers. **Versatility Metric (7.4/10.0)** - Sports-ready for casual wear, office chronograph checks, or underwater adventures, much like a Hamilton Khaki Field trio. **History & Innovation Metric (7.3/10.0)** - Seiko's quartz revolution and Doxa's Sub lineage provide solid heritage comparable to Tissot PRX collections. **Dials & Design Metric (7.1/10.0)** - Striking vintage angular layouts, busy chrono dials, and classic Pepsi colors echo the appeal of Seiko 62MAS re-editions. **Cohesiveness Metric (5.9/10.0)** - Quartz tool theme unites them loosely, but chrono-heavy Seikos clash mildly with the Doxa diver like a mismatched Prospex set. **Complications Metric (5.8/10.0)** - Quartz chronograph layouts function reliably but lack the mechanical depth of ETA 7750-powered pieces. **Brand Metric (5.7/10.0)** - Seiko's workhorse reliability meets Doxa's dive prestige for mid-tier cachet similar to Hamilton-Oris blends. **Movement Metric (5.3/10.0)** - Precise quartz calibers (7A38, 7A28, Ronda-based) match the consistency of entry automatics like Seiko 4R35. **Rarity Metric (4.8/10.0)** - Vintage Seiko appeal boosts it slightly, but secondary market abundance keeps it below limited-run micros. ## Total Performance Score (TPS): 4.0 ## TPS Interpretation: Below Expected Value: The collection underdelivers relative to its ~$900 average price, held back by basic quartz movements despite strong functions. ## WM Collector Grade: C ## Performance Insights: Excels in functions, materials, and versatility for tool watch fans but middling on movement, rarity, and cohesion; offers fair enthusiast value above an implied ~$500 price point. ## Collection Type by Style Tool (100%), Sports (100%), Chronograph (67%), Diver (33%), Adventure (33%), Collector (67%). ## Collection Type by Movement Quartz (100%). ## Collection Strengths - Iconic cultural ties like James Bond and Doxa Sub heritage add collectible fun. - Exceptional reliability and water resistance (up to 600m) for daily tool use. - Outstanding bang-for-buck with chronograph features at sub-$1k prices. ## Ideas for Improvement 1. Diversify with a mechanical movement to elevate sophistication and breadth. 2. Add a matching Doxa or Seiko diver for tighter dive/chrono theme cohesion. 3. Upgrade vintage mineral crystals to sapphire via service for modern durability. ## Downsizing Advice At three watches, this is already lean—prioritize keeping the James Bond 7A28-7020 for its unmatched provenance and the Doxa for pro dive creds, potentially selling the 7A38-7020 if needing cash or variety, as its homage style overlaps slightly. ## Watch by Watch Summary - Seiko "Royal Oak" Chronograph 7A38-7020: Angular luxury-inspired case and quartz chrono punch well above its ~$1,000 vintage price. - Seiko 7A28-7020 James Bond Quartz Chronograph: Film-famous square design delivers 007 cool and reliable timing at ~$700. - Doxa Sub 600 Pro Pepsi Aubry Quartz Diver: Beefy 600m Pepsi bezel pro-diver stands out as the modern heavy-hitter at ~$1,100. **A.I.
