Collector Description

This is my watch collection from over the years. From left to right. My workwatch; Seiko Tuna SBBN031, my normal watch; Seiko Sarb017, and my "looking a little extra fancy" watch; Tudor Black Bay GMT.

First one I got was the Seiko Sarb017 after breaking both of my Vostok Amphibias. Realised I would probably be better off buying a proper watch rather than keep on breaking the cheaper ones.

Second one I got was the Seiko SBBN031 "Tuna" that I bought shortly after I started as a deep sea diver. When I first started diving I was still using the Sarb017 since it said 200m water resistance on the dial. A couple of dives and the insides of the Sarb017 was broken. Had to change the whole insides, clockwork and everything. One of the older divers explaimed to me that I needed a proper watch if I wanted to keep on diving with a watch on. He told me about the Tuna being the perfect watch for a young deep sea diver as it is not very expensive compared to other proper dive watches. According to him the quality compared to price with the SBBN031 is unmatched. He still had his old one.

Last one, and fairly recently aquired is the Tudor Black Bay GMT. I had worked my way to a little money and wanted to perhaps "up" my watchgame a littlebit. You do get brainwashed by living with other divers that are mostly all into watches, and I spent what to me is alot of money on the Tudor. Originally I thought I would get one of the pure diving models from Tudor as I have always liked them and they have a long history in diving. However I am so satisfied with the Tuna that I eventually landed on getting the GMT as I have always thought of it as a practical function and the watch looked very nice. After first trying it on I was quickly sold, hopefully not just by the experience of such a nice store haha:)

The inclusion of the Tudor Black Bay GMT adds a valuable complication, enhancing the collection's appeal to frequent travelers. The Seiko Tuna's iconic design and exceptional water resistance make it a standout piece, while the Seiko Alpinist offers a versatile option for everyday wear. ### Ideas for Improvement 1. **Add a Dress Watch**: Introduce a formal watch to enhance the collection's versatility. Consider the Seiko Presage Cocktail Time, which offers elegance at an accessible price point. 2. **Increase Complication Variety**: Incorporate a watch with additional complications, such as a chronograph. The Seiko Prospex Speedtimer could be a suitable addition, providing both functionality and style. 3. **Enhance Material Diversity**: Introduce a watch with unique materials, such as titanium or ceramic, to elevate the Material Metric. The Tudor Pelagos, with its titanium case, would be a fitting choice. ### Downsizing Advice Consider removing the Seiko Prospex Alpinist if downsizing is necessary. While it offers versatility, its style overlaps with the other Seiko models, and its removal would have the least impact on the collection's overall rating. ## Watch by Watch Summary 1. **Seiko Marine Master Professional 300M Tuna (8.5) - Price Estimate: $1,000** - Brand (7.0), History & Innovation (8.0), Rarity (7.5), Material (8.5), Dials & Design (8.0), Movement (8.0), Complications (6.0), Functions (9.5), Versatility (8.5) - Iconic design with exceptional water resistance and robust build, ideal for diving enthusiasts. 2. **Tudor Black Bay GMT (8.3) - Price Estimate: $3,070** - Brand (8.0), History & Innovation (7.5), Rarity (7.0), Material (8.0), Dials & Design (7.5), Movement (8.5), Complications (7.5), Functions (8.0), Versatility (8.5) - Classic design with a useful GMT complication, appealing to travelers and those who appreciate heritage. 3. **Seiko Prospex Alpinist (7.8) - Price Estimate: $538** - Brand (7.0), History & Innovation (7.0), Rarity (7.0), Material (7.5), Dials & Design (7.0), Movement (7.5), Complications (6.0), Functions (8.0), Versatility (8.0) - Rugged build with versatile style, suitable for outdoor adventures and everyday wear.
