Collector Description

Over the years, I’ve gradually started losing interest in collecting watches. I was 18 when I purchased my first Rolex. It was a used Explorer, and I knew absolutely nothing about watches. The excitement I received from owning the watch came from flexing. Before then, I never even cared about wearing a watch.

A year later, I came across this subreddit and found another reason to purchase watches. After exposure to all the different brands (and maturing), I slowly became more of an enthusiast and less materialistic. I started buying watches I subjectively thought looked good. But over the years, as I kept obtaining more and more watches, I received less excitement from wearing a watch.

So, I stopped wearing watches altogether for a year, and I’ve slowly started consolidating my collection by selling and gifting the watches I owned. As of today, I’m left with these four watches:

Cartier Tank (Gift from one of my exes.)

Hublot Classic Fusion (I get the hate, but I personally like how it looks and feels.)

AP ROO (My grail watch.)

Harry Potter digital watch (Gift from one of my exes. I’m a Harry Potter fan.)

I’m a sentimental person, so I’ll be keeping the Tank and the HP watch. The Hublot is my everyday watch at the moment, but I’m looking to replace it with a Ressence. As for the AP, I’m contemplating trading it for a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. I think if I were to add a fifth watch to the collection, it’d be another dress watch: A. Lange & Söhne or Breguet.

A.I. Collection Review:
# 4 Watch Collection - Cartier (25%) / Hublot (25%) / Audemars Piguet (25%) / Harry Potter (25%) Review by A.I. WatchMetrics ## Collection Summary This disparate four-watch collection blends timeless elegance from the Cartier Tank Must XL, modern titanium sportiness in the Hublot Classic Fusion, robust luxury diving prowess from the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver 42mm, and a playful low-end LCD novelty with the Harry Potter Flashing Gryffindor-themed piece, resulting in low cohesion but broad appeal for a collector mixing high fashion, tool watches, and fan memorabilia powered mostly by reliable quartz and automatic movements with power reserves from 42 to 80 hours where applicable. **"Luxury Icons with Potter Whimsy"** ## Overall Collection Rating: 6.0/10.0 **Material Metric (7.8/10.0)** - Premium sapphire crystals, titanium, and ceramic accents across the luxury trio elevate materials above a standard Hamilton collection, though plastic drags the average. **Versatility Metric (7.6/10.0)** - Exceptional breadth spans dress, sports, dive, and novelty uses outperforming a typical Seiko diver set in occasion coverage. **Dials & Design Metric (7.3/10.0)** - Striking rectangular Roman numerals, skeletonized indices, and thematic LCD deliver standout aesthetics comparable to an Oris pointer date lineup. **Brand Metric (6.9/10.0)** - Prestigious Audemars Piguet and Cartier anchor a mid-tier average akin to a mixed Christopher Ward and Sinn ensemble. **History & Innovation Metric (6.8/10.0)** - Iconic Tank and Royal Oak heritage provides solid established impact similar to a Tissot heritage assortment. **Movement Metric (5.9/10.0)** - Blend of in-house automatics and basic quartz matches the reliability of a Citizen Promaster series. **Rarity Metric (5.6/10.0)** - Mid-range pricing and production volumes align with everyday luxury like a Tag Heuer Aquaracer. **Functions Metric (5.1/10.0)** - Basic time/date plus LCD alarms offer average utility on par with a Seiko 5 Sports. **Complications Metric (3.2/10.0)** - Minimal features beyond date windows fall below a standard chronograph like the Hamilton Khaki. **Cohesiveness Metric (2.8/10.0)** - Lack of thematic or style unity resembles a garage sale mix rather than a curated Tudor set. ## Total Performance Score (TPS): 4.2 ## TPS Interpretation: Fair Value: The collection offers decent luxury highlights but underdelivers in cohesion and functions relative to its blended $8,880 average price point. ## WM Collector Grade: C ## Performance Insights: Shines in materials and versatility from diverse premium pieces, but cohesion and complications lag significantly, yielding average value against implied pricing. ## Collection Type by Style Dress (Cartier Tank Must XL, 25%), Sports/Fusion (Hublot Classic Fusion Titanium, 25%), Adventure/Diver (Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver 42mm, 25%), Novelty/Statement (Harry Potter Flashing LCD, 25%). ## Collection Type by Movement Quartz (Cartier Tank Must XL and Harry Potter Flashing LCD, 50%), Automatic (Hublot Classic Fusion Titanium and Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver, 50%). ## Collection Strengths - Standout luxury pedigree from Audemars Piguet, Cartier, and Hublot provides instant prestige and resale potential. - Wide style variety covers formal events to adventures and fun daily wear. - High-end material execution in three watches ensures durability and visual appeal. ## Ideas for Improvement 1. Swap the Harry Potter novelty for a complementary luxury quartz like a Grand Seiko to enhance cohesion. 2. Incorporate a GMT or chronograph to boost functions and complication depth. 3. Focus on a unified theme, such as rectangular cases or titanium builds, for better visual harmony. ## Downsizing Advice Prioritize the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver and Cartier Tank Must XL as core high-value icons, consider selling the Hublot if budget-constrained due to its middle-ground positioning, and drop the Harry Potter LCD outright as it clashes thematically and dilutes prestige without adding meaningful horological value. ## Watch by Watch Summary **Cartier Tank Must XL:** Quintessential rectangular dress watch with Roman numerals and quartz precision for effortless elegance. **Hublot Classic Fusion Titanium:** Sleek titanium sports piece with in-house automatic movement blending modern flair and wearability. **Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver 42mm:** Bold 300m diver featuring iconic octagonal bezel and robust automatic caliber for adventure luxury. **Harry Potter Flashing LCD Gryffindor Ron Hermione Deathly Hallows:** Fun themed digital with flashing effects and alarms, ideal for casual fandom but not serious collecting. **A.I.
