Collector Description

After a lot of fluctuation, my 4 watch rotation:

Have always worn a watch and owned a few at a time, but really got into collecting just before and during Covid.

My “covid hobby” became building and modding watches but I’ve backed off that part of the hobby recently with a new appreciation of what goes into making timepieces.

Never got too wild, but I think the height of my collection was over 20 watches. Recently, after much buying/selling/trading, I’ve settled into this 4 watch rotation that covers all of my needs (for now at least) and I’m really happy with them. I still have a handful more that I don’t wear as often (a couple I built and some gifts mostly), but these are what I wear everyday. I like to think it’s a somewhat unique collection without the “must-haves” a lot of folks turn to.

From left to right:

Longines Lyre on a leather strap. Love the simplicity of this one but wasn’t a fan of the bracelet it came with. On the leather, I can dress this up or down easily and it sees the most daily wear.

Trafford Crossroads on the bracelet. Backed the Kickstarter for this and bought the bracelet recently at the DC watch show. Love the uniqueness of the case and how well the bracelet suits it. And the dial is gorgeous.

Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Aquamarine Dream. As soon as I saw this watch I knew I had to have one. Teal is my favorite color and I love how this edition is just slightly different from the regular line with the rounded edges on the indices. It was my first “nice” (read: somewhat expensive) watch and I don’t see myself ever letting this one go.

Christopher Ward C60 Trident Pro 300. How are these so reasonably priced? The quality and the finish on these is awesome and fit the spot of “black dial diver” in my collection without just being another sub homage. My most recent acquisition and I haven’t taken it off in the week I’ve had it.

A.I. Collection Review:
# 4 Watch Collection - Longines (25%) / Trafford (25%) / Zodiac (25%) / Christopher Ward (25%) Review by A.I. WatchMetrics ## Collection Summary This four-watch collection showcases a blend of Swiss precision from Longines and Zodiac with British craftsmanship from Trafford and Christopher Ward, emphasizing durable tool watches with a heavy dive influence from the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf and Christopher Ward Trident, alongside a versatile Lyre automatic and compact field piece, ideal for the practical enthusiast prioritizing reliability, subtle heritage, and everyday adventure readiness across steel cases and automatic movements with 38-72 hour power reserves. **"Diver-Heavy Tool Quartet"** ## Overall Collection Rating: 6.2/10.0 **Brand Metric (6.0/10.0)** - Mixing entry-level luxury like Longines with high-premium Christopher Ward and heritage micros averages to capable mid-tier prestige, akin to a Hamilton-Seiko enthusiast set. **Dials & Design Metric (7.5/10.0)** - Eye-catching aquamarine gradient on Zodiac plus clean, legible tool layouts deliver above-average appeal, surpassing generic Tissot PRX aesthetics. **Versatility Metric (7.8/10.0)** - Spanning field, sports, and 300m divers enables broad casual-to-adventure use, outpacing single-genre collections like all-dress lineups. **Material Metric (8.5/10.0)** - 316L steel cases, sapphire crystals with AR coating, and ceramic bezels provide robust, premium construction rivaling Oris divers at similar prices. **History & Innovation Metric (6.0/10.0)** - Zodiac's legendary Super Sea Wolf legacy lifts the group, offsetting newer micros much like a Tissot Heritage mixed with modern tools. **Movement Metric (6.5/10.0)** - Sellita SW200-based automatics at 28,800 bph offer dependable, regulated performance comparable to Hamilton Khaki Field autos. **Cohesiveness Metric (6.5/10.0)** - A shared tool-watch theme and automatic ethos binds diverse brands and styles, resembling a curated "daily beater" personal rotation. **Rarity Metric (4.8/10.0)** - Zodiac's 382-piece limit injects scarcity amid mass-produced peers, landing average like standard mid-market assemblages. **Functions Metric (5.2/10.0)** - Core time-plus-date utility fits tool roles but trails multifunction Citizen Promasters. **Complications Metric (2.8/10.0)** - Absence of advanced features like GMT or chronograph keeps it basic, behind Omega Seamaster 300M variants. ## Total Performance Score (TPS): 4.0 ## TPS Interpretation: Fair Value: The collection punches above its $1,000 average price in materials and versatility but basic complications and functions temper overall bang-for-buck. ## WM Collector Grade: C ## Performance Insights: Excels in materials, design, and versatility for reliable daily rotation with Zodiac as gem, though weak complications undervalue it slightly against an implied price near $900. ## Collection Type by Style Diver (50%), Tool/Field/Adventure (25%), Sports/Casual (25%). ## Collection Type by Movement Automatic (100%). ## Collection Strengths - Superior material specs with sapphire, steel, and ceramics for long-term durability. - High versatility across scenarios from office to dive, maximizing wear frequency. - Zodiac limited edition brings collectible heritage and visual wow-factor. - Strong value density from Christopher Ward and Trafford relative to performance. ## Ideas for Improvement 1. Add a dedicated dress or vintage watch to balance the tool-heavy skew. 2. Incorporate in-house movements or higher-beat options for elevated mechanics. 3. Seek a complication like GMT to boost functions and broaden appeal. ## Downsizing Advice Prioritize keeping the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Aquamarine Dream for its rarity and icon status alongside the Christopher Ward C60 Trident Pro 300 for pro-level dive utility; the Trafford Crossroads offers compact value but could exit first due to microbrand obscurity, while Longines Lyre provides elegance yet overlaps in daily use. ## Watch by Watch Summary - **Longines Lyre Automatic**: Classic Swiss auto with refined lyre lugs and reliable L888 movement shines as the collection's polished sports option. - **Trafford Crossroads**: Slim 36mm field watch delivers microbrand charm and everyday comfort at budget-friendly specs. - **Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Aquamarine Dream**: Limited 382-piece stunner with mesmerizing dial and heritage diver cred steals the show. - **Christopher Ward C60 Trident Pro 300**: Beefy 300m pro diver with premium reg and bezel serves as the robust all-rounder. **A.I.
