Collector Description
This month’s travel Selection
I know some people freak out about traveling with watches. It is a matter of where you’re going obviously, and what you’ll be doing there, so I don’t mean to be flip. If I’m going to some tourist hotspot I’m just wearing my Moon Swatch, I get it…
But it’s been a business trip, had to go to NY and Shanghai, so here’s my travel selection. I also have a lot of metal and leather bracelets with color stones that I wear mainly on the other wrist.
Im very happy and grateful to get to own these watches. I’m posting this because I know there are a few fellow watch nerds here beyond the usual brands, so I’m just sharing my joy.

### **Breakdown by Watch Collection Metrics**
- **Brand - 9.8/10 (Weight: 15%)**
Moritz Grossmann, Voutilainen, Romain Gauthier, and Grönefeld are regarded as leading independent watchmakers. Their contribution to horology in terms of craftsmanship and exclusivity is unparalleled, enhancing the value of the collection.
- **History & Innovation - 9.7/10 (Weight: 10%)**
Each brand has introduced groundbreaking horological innovations. The **Logical One's chain-driven constant force mechanism** and the **One Hertz's deadbeat seconds** demonstrate cutting-edge innovation in mechanical timekeeping.
- **Rarity - 9.8/10 (Weight: 10%)**
The collection consists of highly limited editions, with only 5 pieces of the **Moritz Grossmann Benu Date LE-5** produced, alongside other exclusive pieces from Voutilainen, Grönefeld, and Romain Gauthier, making the collection extremely rare.
- **Material - 9.4/10 (Weight: 10%)**
The collection features **white gold**, **titanium**, and exceptional hand-finished dials. These materials are chosen for their rarity and prestige, with finishing that reflects the highest standards in the industry.
- **Movement - 9.7/10 (Weight: 10%)**
All watches are powered by highly complex manual-wind movements. Notable innovations like the **constant force mechanism** in the Logical One and the **deadbeat seconds** in the One Hertz represent some of the finest examples of contemporary mechanical watchmaking.
- **Versatility - 8.3/10 (Weight: 10%)**
While artistically and technically impressive, the collection lacks versatility in terms of use cases. The focus on avant-garde designs means these watches are better suited for formal or unique settings, limiting their adaptability in everyday casual or sports scenarios.
- **Complications - 8.8/10 (Weight: 10%)**
The technical complications of the collection, such as **deadbeat seconds** and **constant force escapements**, are remarkable, though the lack of additional high-end complications like minute repeaters or perpetual calendars leaves room for further depth.
- **Functions - 9.1/10 (Weight: 10%)**
While these watches excel in precision timekeeping and feature complex mechanical functions, the lack of more practical complications, such as GMT or chronographs, limits their functional versatility. However, the technical innovations within the movements more than compensate for this limitation.
- **Dials & Design - 9.6/10 (Weight: 10%)**
The dials are extraordinary, particularly with **Kari Voutilainen's** handcrafted guilloché work on the **Roma Synergy**. Each watch in this collection exhibits meticulous attention to detail in its dial design, which elevates the overall aesthetic.
- **Cohesiveness - 9.3/10 (Weight: 7%)**
The collection is cohesive in its focus on technical and artistic excellence, particularly in manual-wind watches from renowned independent brands. The avant-garde theme runs through all the watches, creating a unified and consistent vision.
- **Collection Depth - 9.2/10 (Weight: 8%)**
Despite its tight focus on avant-garde designs and high-end mechanical complexity, the collection offers substantial depth, featuring cutting-edge horological techniques and innovations across the board.
---
### **Collection Strengths**
- The collection showcases the pinnacle of independent haute horlogerie, blending technical innovation with artistic craftsmanship.
- Each watch is rare and exclusive, adding to the collection's desirability.
- Outstanding dial designs and mechanical innovations from some of the most respected names in independent watchmaking.
### **Potential Ways for Improvement**
- Expanding the collection to include more casual or sport-oriented timepieces could enhance versatility.
- Including high complications such as minute repeaters or perpetual calendars would add further depth to the technical complexity of the collection.
