Collector Description

Four out of five are probably here forever.

The Aquastar Benthos I bought in a Paris flea market on a trip with the family. It was just so unexpected and the orange crawler was crazy cool. The back story was also interesting, who knows if true, but the orignal owners wife sold it to the shop, he was a French special forces diver. My watchmaker spent awhile on this one, it needed a fair amount of work.

The Rolex I bought once I graduated from TBS in Quantico. It has seen some amazing adventures. This one goes to my dauther, hopefully it is passed down for as long as possible.

The Sinn I just picked up for my trip next month to walk the last 100km of the Camino. Might not be a keeper beyond that but it is so typical of German engineering, no nonsense, tough as nails, tool watch.

The Omega has always been the watch I felt I had to own. For some reason I thought it was perhaps the most beautiful design of any watch I have owned. All original except for the crystal. That one I suspect I will give to my brother just so it stays in the family.

The IWC is shockingly still here. Although I can't help myself with flipping watches, I can't let this one go. The 41mm size is the only IWC chrono that was ever comfortable. And that blue dial is great in pictures but amazing in person.

That is pretty much how I roll with watches. Probably going to pick one more up, but I am holding out until I see something truly interesting. No more major brands or vintage. So may exceptional micros are coming to market I can't keep up. I would be sincerely intested in some options or general comments. Cheers fellow watch lovers.

A.I. Collection Review:
# 5 Watch Collection - Aquastar (20%) / Sinn (20%) / IWC (20%) / Rolex (20%) / Omega (20%) Review by A.I. WatchMetrics ## Collection Summary This eclectic collection unites robust modern tool watches from Aquastar and Sinn with prestigious vintage icons from Rolex and Omega, plus a classic IWC pilot chronograph, emphasizing adventure-ready divers, pilots, fields, and GMTs with a shared vintage-inspired tool aesthetic ideal for the serious enthusiast seeking heritage, durability, and versatility across daily adventures and travel. **"Vintage Tool Adventure Mix"** ## Overall Collection Rating: 8.0/10.0 **Versatility Metric (8.9/10.0)** - Exceptional range from deep divers to GMT travelers and pilots covers every occasion better than a typical Hamilton or Oris set. **Dials & Design Metric (8.7/10.0)** - Striking vintage cues like big triangles and colorful bezels paired with clean tool layouts outshine standard Seiko Prospex dials. **Material Metric (8.4/10.0)** - Premium steel cases with sapphire upgrades and vintage hesalite/plexi authenticity exceed the build quality of most Tissot or Citizen collections. **History & Innovation Metric (8.2/10.0)** - Iconic Rolex GMT heritage and Omega Bond-diver legacy elevate it beyond average Tudor or Longines lineups. **Rarity Metric (8.1/10.0)** - Limited Aquastar edition and scarce Rolex Blueberry variant provide scarcity on par with select Grand Seiko limited releases. **Brand Metric (7.9/10.0)** - Blend of luxury stalwarts like Rolex and IWC with premium toolmakers Sinn delivers prestige comparable to a curated Oris or Christopher Ward group. **Functions Metric (7.9/10.0)** - Solid basics plus GMT and date functions match the utility of a Hamilton Khaki collection without excess. **Movement Metric (7.8/10.0)** - Reliable Sellita, Rolex calibers, and modified Valjoux powerhouses perform like upgraded ETA setups in mid-tier Omegas. **Cohesiveness Metric (7.2/10.0)** - Tool and vintage adventure theme ties it together solidly, akin to a Sinn or Zodiac enthusiast's focused stable. **Complications Metric (6.5/10.0)** - IWC chrono and Rolex GMT add flair but lag behind dedicated Breitling or Zenith complication sets. ## Total Performance Score (TPS): 6.8 ## TPS Interpretation: Strong Value: The collection delivers premium tool heritage and adventure versatility well above expectations for its total investment level. ## WM Collector Grade: A ## Performance Insights: Shines in versatility, design, and materials with standout vintage rarity boosting appeal; complications and cohesion offer room for targeted upgrades without diminishing overall luxury value. ## Collection Type by Style - Diver (40%): Aquastar Benthos 500 LE-300, Omega Seamaster 300 Big Triangle Date - Pilot (20%): IWC Pilot's Chronograph IW3717-01 - Field/Tool (20%): Sinn 556 A - Travel/GMT (20%): Rolex GMT Blueberry 1675 ## Collection Type by Movement - Automatic (100%): All five watches powered by reliable modern and vintage automatic calibers including Sellita SW200, Rolex 1575, IWC IW3780, and Omega 752 equivalents. ## Collection Strengths - Outstanding balance of wearable modern tools and collectible vintage icons, providing both daily utility and strong appreciation potential. - High adventure credentials with deep water resistance, GMT functionality, and pilot legibility across diverse scenarios. - Impressive total market value driven by rare variants like the Rolex Blueberry and Aquastar LE, appealing to investors and enthusiasts alike. ## Ideas for Improvement 1. Introduce a slim dress watch to expand formal versatility and balance the tool-heavy focus. 2. Add a proprietary high-beat or silicon movement for enhanced performance depth. 3. Incorporate more unified colorways or bezel themes to boost visual cohesiveness. ## Downsizing Advice Prioritize retaining the Rolex GMT Blueberry 1675 and Omega Seamaster 300 for their superior liquidity and appreciation trajectory; consider parting with the Aquastar or Sinn if cash flow is needed, as they offer solid but less explosive resale compared to the vintage heavyweights. ## Watch by Watch Summary - **Aquastar Benthos 500 LE-300**: Bold modern diver revival with 500m rating and limited 300-piece run shines for contemporary tool enthusiasts. - **Sinn 556 A**: Rugged field watch with Ar technology and tegimented steel excels in everyday durability and legibility. - **IWC Pilot's Chronograph IW3717-01**: Classic flyback chrono captures aviation heritage with precise Valjoux-based reliability. - **Rolex GMT Blueberry 1675**: Rare vintage GMT icon with blue/blue bezel stands as the collection's blue-chip centerpiece. - **Omega Seamaster 300 Big Triangle Date**: Timeless vintage diver with bold markers and 300m cred delivers Bond-level charm. **A.I.
