Collector Description

[SOTC] After a few years. What should I add to my collection?

Hamilton Khaki Field Auto (38 mm). My first automatic watch.

Tissot Chemin des Tourelles (39 mm). Switched out the brown leather strap with butterfly clasp for a Holben's Hirsch Kent black leather strap.

Marathon GSAR (US Gov). Love the feeling of heft whenever I wear this one.

Seiko Prospex Land ("Baby Alpinist", SPB155). I constantly catch myself just staring at the dial throughout the day. I know many shit on Seiko bracelets, but this one feels solid and is comfortable. No complaints.

Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope. Love the minimalist design. My dress watch, and one I frequently get compliments on.

Not pictured are my Casio F-91W (beater) and my Apple Watch SE (which I wear when working out).

Looking to add something else, such as a traveler's/true GMT, or anything that's very different from what I have already. My budget is around $1000, but I'm willing to go beyond that if I find something I really like.

All suggestions welcome!

A.I. Collection Review:
# 5 Watch Collection - Hamilton (20%) / Marathon (20%) / Junghans (20%) / Seiko (20%) / Tissot (20%) Review by A.I. WatchMetrics ## Collection Summary This diverse 5-watch collection emphasizes rugged field and tool watches ideal for adventure and daily reliability, anchored by the military heritage of Hamilton Khaki Field and Seiko Prospex Alpinist, the extreme-duty tritium illumination of Marathon TSAR, and accented by the refined 1960s-inspired Tissot Chemin Des Tourelles Powermatic 80 and Bauhaus-precision Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope. Cohesion stems from a shared practical ethos with legible dials, robust builds, and strong power reserves (up to 80 hours), appealing to the versatile collector who balances outdoor utility with subtle sophistication across mostly automatic movements and one tritium quartz standout. **"Rugged Field Tool Brigade"** ## Overall Collection Rating: 6.6/10.0 **Brand Metric (5.4/10.0)** - Blending dependable mid-tier names like Seiko and Hamilton with niche specialists like Marathon and Junghans, it aligns with the prestige of a typical Hamilton or Citizen field watch assortment. **History & Innovation Metric (7.2/10.0)** - Iconic contributions from Seiko Alpinist's adventure legacy and Junghans Max Bill's Bauhaus influence lift it beyond standard Tissot or Timex heritage revivals. **Rarity Metric (4.2/10.0)** - Mass-produced accessible models at mid-range prices score similarly to everyday Seiko Prospex divers or Hamilton Khakis on the secondary market. **Material Metric (8.2/10.0)** - Consistent sapphire crystals, stainless steel cases, and solid finishing rival the build quality of entry-level Oris or Tudor divers. **Movement Metric (7.6/10.0)** - Long-reserve automatics like Tissot Powermatic 80 alongside tritium quartz durability match the reliability of Hamilton H-10 field automatics. **Complications Metric (3.8/10.0)** - Mostly time-and-date basics with one chronograph equate to uncomplicated field watch lineups like Seiko 5 Sports. **Functions Metric (6.4/10.0)** - Essential timekeeping plus date, compass bezel, and chrono perform on par with Prospex Alpinist adventurers. **Dials & Design Metric (8.1/10.0)** - Standout legible, textured dials from Alpinist cathedral markers to Max Bill minimalism benchmark against curated Nomos Bauhaus sets. **Versatility Metric (8.3/10.0)** - Spanning field, military tool, dress, and chrono for any occasion, it rivals the wearability of a balanced Tudor Black Bay lineup. **Cohesiveness Metric (6.7/10.0)** - A tool-watch theme ties it together despite dressier outliers, outperforming random multi-brand grabs but trailing pure Rolex sports stacks. ## Total Performance Score (TPS): 9.9 ## TPS Interpretation: Exceptional Value: The collection punches far above its average ~$860 price with superior materials, design, and versatility. ## WM Collector Grade: A+ ## Performance Insights: Excels in dials, versatility, materials, and history with robust movements; modest rarity and complications temper it slightly, yet it offers outstanding bang-for-buck versus implied ~$300 price. ## Collection Type by Style Field/Adventure (40%): Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic 38, Seiko Prospex Alpinist; Tool/Military (20%): Marathon TSAR; Dress/Formal (20%): Tissot Chemin Des Tourelles; Sports Chronograph (20%): Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope. ## Collection Type by Movement Automatic (80%): Hamilton (H-10), Tissot (Powermatic 80), Seiko (6R35), Junghans (ETA-based); Quartz (20%): Marathon (tritium tube). ## Collection Strengths - Iconic, highly legible designs across field, tool, and dress styles provide timeless appeal and excellent daily rotation. - Superior power reserves and durability from 80-hour automatics to mil-spec tritium ensure low-maintenance reliability. - Balanced price-to-performance with heritage value in every piece, ideal for practical enthusiasts. ## Ideas for Improvement 1. Incorporate a GMT complication (e.g., Seiko or Citizen) to boost travel functionality and complications score. 2. Add a titanium or ceramic case for material breadth and modern lightness. 3. Include a microbrand or limited edition to elevate rarity and uniqueness. ## Downsizing Advice To trim to three watches while preserving core strengths, keep the Seiko Prospex Alpinist (field icon), Marathon TSAR (unique tritium tool), and Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope (elegant contrast); sell the Hamilton and Tissot as solid but redundant mid-tier fields/dress options. ## Watch by Watch Summary **Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic 38**: Military-spec 38mm field watch with clean Arabic numerals and 80-hour H-10 power for understated toughness. **Tissot Chemin Des Tourelles Powermatic 80 39mm**: Sophisticated sector dial homage to 1960s elegance powered by an 80-hour automatic. **Marathon Tritium Search and Rescue (TSAR)**: Bombproof military diver with continuous tritium glow and extreme 300m water resistance. **Seiko Prospex Alpinist**: Adventure legend with compass bezel, textured dial, and reliable 6R35 automatic for outdoor mastery. **Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope**: Bauhaus masterpiece chronograph blending minimalist dial and precise ETA-based movement. **A.I.
