Collector Description

5 years, 5 promotions, 5 watches. I definitely have a type.

Over the past 5 years I decided to commemorate my yearly promotion by getting myself a watch. I started with the Seiko SKX 007, which took place of my stolen Orange Monster, and has been through hell and kept going.

After that, I got my Omega Seamaster 300 2543.80, which has been my absolute favorite watch. It's the only quartz watch in my collection and it feels absolutely at home on my wrist.

I don't know what drew me to the Breitling Superocean A17340, but the thing is an overbuilt tank and I love it.

IMHO the most mechanically brilliant watch of the group is the Tutor Heritage Black Bay GMT Pepsi 79830 I got last year, I absolutely love everything about this watch, even the ridiculous thickness. I literally have had coworkers think I was being rude rushing them, when in reality I was just marveling at this beauty.

Rounding out the collection was this year's promotion and "goal watch," a 2008 Rolex Submariner 16610. What can I say about this watch that hasn't been said 10,000 times, definitely lives up to the hype.

WatchMetrics ## Collection Summary This collection forms a cohesive progression of professional tool dive watches, unified by robust stainless steel cases, unidirectional bezels, luminous dials, and automatic movements with 40–70 hour power reserves, appealing to the dedicated enthusiast who values reliability, legibility, and heritage from everyday beater to ultimate status symbol. **"Progressive Elite Diver Lineup"** ## Overall Collection Rating: 8.0/10.0 **Cohesiveness Metric (9.7/10.0)** - Near-perfect thematic unity around dive tool watches creates a focused, envy-inducing set rivaling curated museum-grade collections. **Dials & Design Metric (9.3/10.0)** - Exemplary legibility, texture, and proportions echo the timeless appeal of vintage military divers like the Dirty Dozen. **Material Metric (9.2/10.0)** - Premium sapphire crystals, 904L/316L steels, and ceramic accents deliver top-tier durability matching high-end tool watch standards. **Versatility Metric (8.8/10.0)** - Seamlessly transitions from boardroom to deep sea, outperforming single-purpose collections in everyday adaptability. **History & Innovation Metric (8.6/10.0)** - Loaded with dive legends from Seiko's cult classic to Rolex's archetype, akin to Omega's Bond-era milestones. **Functions Metric (8.4/10.0)** - Robust time, date, bezel, and GMT utility provide pro-level utility on par with military-spec field watches. **Movement Metric (8.1/10.0)** - From reliable workhorses to COSC-certified in-house calibers, comparable to Omega's ETA-upgraded reliability. **Brand Metric (7.6/10.0)** - Balanced prestige climb from Seiko dependability to Rolex dominance, like a Tudor's entry-luxury bridge. **Rarity Metric (6.5/10.0)** - Solid mix of attainable icons and waitlisted Rolex elevates beyond common mid-tier assortments. **Complications Metric (4.2/10.0)** - Basic trio of time/date/GMT lacks advanced feats, trailing collections with chronos or moonphases. ## Total Performance Score (TPS): 7.8 ## TPS Interpretation: Strong Value: The collection punches well above its weight in dive excellence and cohesion for the blended price point. ## WM Collector Grade: A- ## Performance Insights: Shines in cohesion, design, and materials with reliable movements; complications are a weak spot, yet delivers superior enthusiast value versus its $4,600 average price against an implied $3,800. ## Collection Type by Style - Tool/Diver: 100% (core theme across all) - Sports/Adventure: 80% - Travel: 20% (Tudor GMT) ## Collection Type by Movement - Automatic/Mechanical: 100% - In-House/COSC: 60% (Tudor, Rolex, Breitling) - ETA-Derived: 20% (Omega) ## Collection Strengths - Unmatched dive theme cohesion for storytelling and rotation. - Price-tier progression supports collector growth without gaps. - Proven real-world performance from beater to heirloom. ## Ideas for Improvement 1. Introduce a chronograph diver (e.g., Omega Speedmaster) for added utility. 2. Add a slim dress watch to balance formal versatility. 3. Incorporate a microbrand or vintage piece for uniqueness. ## Downsizing Advice Prioritize keeping the Rolex Submariner and Tudor Black Bay GMT as versatile crown jewels; divest the Omega and Breitling for redundancy in the mid-luxury dive slot, retaining the Seiko SKX007 as a sentimental beater. ## Watch by Watch Summary **Seiko SKX007 Diver**: Indestructible entry-level legend with 200m prowess and cult following at unbeatable value. **Omega Seamaster Diver 300M 2532.80**: Iconic wave-dial Bond diver boasting helium valve and 300m depth for 90s nostalgia. **Breitling SuperOcean A17360**: Beefy, legible powerhouse blending Breitling aviation roots with reliable dive specs. **Tudor Black Bay GMT**: Heritage-infused traveler's delight with 70h reserve and Pepsi bezel versatility. **Rolex Submariner Date 41**: Pinnacle of perfection—ceramic bezel, 70h power, and timeless status in 41mm refinement. **A.I.
