Collector Description

My collection after 4 years, always aimed to keep some variety in style/colour.

Hi all, wanted to share my (relatively) modest collection that I've built up over the past 4 years. Let me know which is your favourite!

Starting from top-left:

Farer Stanhope II - When I was first dipping my toe into watches I loved the look of the original Stanhope from Farer but was a little hesitant about the price tag. A few years later after I'd added a few more affordable watches to the collection, I saw the Stanhope II announcement and absolutely had to get in on it. I love the slightly retro styling and the clean design.

Oris Aquis 39.5mm (Ref. 01 733 7732 4157-07 8 21 05PEB) - This was a birthday present from my family and would be tied for most worn with the Hamilton. Love the green dial and the metal bracelet is so well made - it's super comfortable, well finished and I love the taper.

Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical (Ref. H69439931) - A classic casual mechanical watch, I love the thin dimensions and the long power reserve. Only gripe is the long-ish lugs but I love how it wears overall and it's my go-to daily watch.

Meistersinger Neo Date (Ref. NE911D) - I fell in love as soon as I saw a photo of this from a local watch store during the pandemic, but took about a year for me to actually get it. Doesn't get loads of wear given the colour doesn't suit everything but I love wearing it as a dressier watch that's a bit unique.

Seiko Panda Chronograph (Ref. 7T32-7C60) - The earliest acquisition of this collection, I saw this and it immediately gave me "Baby Daytona" vibes. I love the slightly retro look to it and it's my go-to whenever I wear black.

Seiko Presage "Fuyugeshiki" (Ref. SRPC97J1) - I adore the dial of this watch and it's extremely well made for the price tag, but I bought it before I had got a bead on what dimensions worked for my wrist best and unfortunately it's a bit bulky for my tastes. Still love looking at it but planning to sell this one and get a slightly smaller dress watch (open to suggestions!)

In terms of wrist time, it would go Hamilton > Oris > Farer > Seiko Panda > Meistersinger > Seiko Presage

The mix of bold colors and refined finishing enhances visual appeal.** - **Versatility Metric (9.0/10.0)** **A strong balance of styles, including field, dive, dress, and chronograph pieces, ensures this collection covers a variety of wear situations.** - **Brand Metric (8.8/10.0)** **A well-curated mix of Swiss, Japanese, and independent brands showcases strong heritage and unique identities.** - **Material Metric (8.5/10.0)** **High-quality materials, including stainless steel, sapphire crystals, and well-finished cases, provide durability and aesthetic appeal.** - **Functions Metric (8.3/10.0)** **A solid range of practical features, including water resistance, mechanical hand-winding, and chronograph functionality, though a GMT would elevate this further.** - **Movement Metric (8.1/10.0)** **The mix of manual, automatic, and quartz movements adds diversity, with highlights such as the Oris Aquis’ automatic caliber and the Hamilton Khaki Field’s hand-wound movement.** - **Complications Metric (7.9/10.0)** **The collection includes chronographs, date functions, and a single-hand time display (MeisterSinger), but lacks high-end complications such as moonphases or power reserve indicators.** - **History & Innovation Metric (7.7/10.0)** **Oris, Hamilton, and Seiko bring historical significance, though the newer independent brands don’t carry as much legacy weight.** - **Rarity Metric (7.5/10.0)** **Limited-production models like the Farer Stanhope II contribute some exclusivity, but most watches in the collection are widely available.** - **Cohesiveness Metric (7.4/10.0)** **The collection is varied and dynamic, though it leans slightly toward casual/dress watches, with some overlap between styles.** --- ## **Collection Strengths** - **Excellent design diversity**, with bold color choices and refined finishing. - **Balanced mix of brands**, blending Swiss heritage, Japanese reliability, and independent creativity. - **Well-rounded versatility**, covering dress, sport, and casual wear. --- ## **Ideas for Improvement** 1. **Add a High-End Mechanical Chronograph** – **The Seiko Panda 7T32 is a quartz chronograph; upgrading to a mechanical version would enhance the collection’s horological depth.** - **Suggested Addition:** **Longines Spirit Chronograph (≈$3,000)** – A Swiss-made automatic chronograph with vintage aviation charm. 2. **Introduce a GMT for Travel** – **A GMT function would improve functionality and add a useful travel watch.** - **Suggested Addition:** **Grand Seiko SBGM221 (≈$4,600)** – A beautifully finished automatic GMT with a heritage touch. 3. **Enhance Rarity with a Limited Edition Model** – **Adding a numbered limited edition would increase collectibility.** - **Suggested Addition:** **Nomos Club Sport Neomatik Limited Edition (≈$3,500)** – A sleek, rare timepiece with strong finishing. --- ## **Downsizing Advice** If downsizing, the **Seiko Panda Chronograph 7T32** could be removed. **As a quartz model, it is the least mechanically significant chronograph in the lineup, and a higher-end automatic alternative would strengthen the collection.** --- ## **Watch-by-Watch Summary** ### **1) Oris Aquis Date Green Dial (8.9/10.0) – Price Estimate: $2,400** - **Brand (8.5), History & Innovation (8.2), Rarity (7.8), Material (9.0), Dials & Design (9.2), Movement (8.5), Complications (8.0), Functions (9.0), Versatility (8.7)** - **A premium dive watch with an eye-catching green dial and robust automatic movement.** ### **2) Farer Stanhope II (8.7/10.0) – Price Estimate: $1,000** - **Brand (8.0), History & Innovation (7.5), Rarity (8.5), Material (8.3), Dials & Design (9.4), Movement (8.2), Complications (7.5), Functions (8.2), Versatility (8.6)** - **A unique independent dress watch with bold British design elements.** ### **3) Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical (8.6/10.0) – Price Estimate: $645** - **Brand (8.3), History & Innovation (8.5), Rarity (7.5), Material (8.2), Dials & Design (8.0), Movement (8.3), Complications (7.5), Functions (8.7), Versatility (9.0)** - **A classic military field watch with a manually wound movement and rugged charm.** ### **4) MeisterSinger Neo Plus Sunburst Red Dégradé (8.5/10.0) – Price Estimate: $1,395** - **Brand (8.0), History & Innovation (7.5), Rarity (8.2), Material (8.3), Dials & Design (9.5), Movement (8.1), Complications (7.7), Functions (7.9), Versatility (8.5)** - **A stunning one-hand timepiece with a dramatic red sunburst dial and minimalist execution.** ### **5) Seiko Presage Cocktail Time (8.2/10.0) – Price Estimate: $450** - **Brand (7.8), History & Innovation (7.5), Rarity (7.3), Material (8.0), Dials & Design (9.0), Movement (7.9), Complications (7.4), Functions (8.0), Versatility (8.3)** - **A dressy, elegant automatic watch with a beautifully textured dial.** ### **6) Seiko Panda Chronograph 7T32 (7.9/10.0) – Price Estimate: $400** - **Brand (7.5), History & Innovation (7.2), Rarity (7.5), Material (7.8), Dials & Design (8.0), Movement (7.3), Complications (7.8), Functions (8.0), Versatility (8.0)** - **A vintage-inspired quartz chronograph, though lacking mechanical movement prestige.** --- ## **Final Thoughts** This collection offers **a unique blend of independent watchmaking, classic Swiss brands, and Japanese craftsmanship**, with **a strong emphasis on design and everyday wearability**. **A mechanical chronograph, a GMT, or a rare limited-edition piece would elevate the collection further.**
