The inclusion of both classic and modern designs provides a well-rounded aesthetic appeal. The use of durable materials and practical features like GMT and solar power enhances the collection's utility. ### Ideas for Improvement 1. **Add a High-End Mechanical Watch**: Introducing a high-end mechanical watch with advanced complications, such as a moonphase or perpetual calendar, would elevate the collection's sophistication. Example: Longines Master Collection Moonphase (Price: ~$2,500). 2. **Incorporate a Dress Watch**: Adding a dedicated dress watch with a minimalist design and high-quality materials would enhance the collection's formal appeal. Example: Hamilton Intra-Matic Auto (Price: ~$1,000). ### Downsizing Advice To streamline the collection, consider removing the Casio G-Shock 40th Anniversary Remastered Black DWE5657RE-1. Collector Description:
Got my vintage Speedmaster back from service today and with a recent pickup (the Horage) I now have filled my 8 slot box with mechanical watches (will need to start new storage for my quartz watches).
Going clockwise from top left we've got: 1979 Omega Speedmaster 861, Omega SMP NTTD, Omega Aqua Terra Saffron, Longines Legend Diver Bronze, Christopher Ward Trident Pro 300 Bronze, Hamilton Jazzmaster Skeleton, Horage Supersede Date, Longines Master Collection Chronograph.
Trying to limit myself to 8 mechanical watches so things don't get out of hand, but there may be some upgrades or substitutions to be made. Currently they are all round watches so I may try to trade something out for a different case shape. I'm not sure I need two bronze dive watches so maybe one of those will be something to let go of. At some point I would like to upgrade the Master Collection Chronograph to something like a Zenith or a Daytona if I'm so lucky.
Let me know what you think and any suggestions you have on something different to add!

# **8 Watches – Omega (38%) / Longines (25%) / Horage (13%) / Hamilton (13%) / Christopher Ward (13%) Collection Review by A.I. WatchMetrics** --- ## **Collection Summary** **"Precision & Adventure"** This collection blends **technical innovation, diving heritage, chronograph expertise, and independent watchmaking flair**. **Omega dominates the lineup**, with three standout pieces covering spaceflight history (**Moonwatch Professional**), military-inspired diving (**Seamaster 300M 007 Edition**), and everyday luxury (**Aqua Terra Shades**). **Longines adds strong horological credibility**, with a vintage-inspired **Legend Diver in bronze** and a classic **Master Collection Chronograph**. Meanwhile, **Horage brings modern independent craftsmanship**, **Hamilton contributes skeletonized mechanical artistry**, and **Christopher Ward enhances the collection with a bronze professional diver**. This collection excels in **movement diversity, functionality, and design variety**, featuring a blend of robust tool watches and refined dress pieces. The collection leans heavily toward sports and casual watches, with **no ultra-luxury dress watch or grand complication**. While **cohesive in mechanical depth**, the **absence of high-end materials like gold or platinum** limits its luxury appeal. --- ## **Overall Collection Rating: 8.6/10.0** - **Movement Metric (9.4/10.0)** **Strong technical depth, featuring Omega’s Co-Axial Master Chronometers, Horage’s in-house Supersede movement, and a variety of automatic calibers with chronograph, skeleton, and GMT functionality.** - **Functions Metric (9.3/10.0)** **Excellent water resistance across multiple dive watches, robust lume, skeletonized movement display, and highly legible designs. The Moonwatch provides precision timing, while the Horage Supersede brings advanced micro-rotor movement tech.** - **Dials & Design Metric (9.0/10.0)** **A diverse selection of dial executions, from the Aqua Terra’s sunburst colorway to the skeletonized Hamilton and the vintage patina of the Legend Diver Bronze.** - **Brand Metric (8.9/10.0)** **Omega and Longines provide deep heritage, while Horage and Christopher Ward contribute independent innovation. Hamilton adds entry-level prestige with recognizable Swiss roots.** - **History & Innovation Metric (8.7/10.0)** **The Moonwatch's space legacy, Seamaster’s military history, and Longines’ heritage in aviation and racing contribute significantly. Horage represents cutting-edge independent innovation with its micro-rotor movement.** - **Versatility Metric (8.5/10.0)** **The collection balances professional dive watches, chronographs, and everyday wearers, but lacks a high-dress watch for formal occasions.** - **Material Metric (8.3/10.0)** **Use of bronze and ceramic elevates the collection, but no precious metals (gold/platinum) or enamel dials reduce luxury appeal.** - **Rarity Metric (8.1/10.0)** **The Horage Supersede’s low production numbers and the James Bond Edition Seamaster provide exclusivity, but widely available Longines and Hamilton pieces lower the rarity factor.** - **Complications Metric (8.0/10.0)** **Chronograph, GMT, and skeletonized movements provide depth, but no high-complication pieces like a perpetual calendar or moonphase.** - **Cohesiveness Metric (7.9/10.0)** **The collection aligns well with tool watches and everyday sports watches, though the absence of a formal piece creates a thematic gap.** --- ## **Collection Strengths** - **Strong mechanical innovation, with Omega’s Co-Axial movements, Horage’s in-house micro-rotor, and Hamilton’s skeletonized automatic.** - **Diverse dial designs, including skeleton, bronze patina, colorful Aqua Terra, and heritage-inspired chronographs.** - **Excellent water resistance and durability across the collection, making it highly functional.** --- ## **Ideas for Improvement** 1. **Add a High-Dress Watch** – **A refined dress piece in gold or platinum would enhance the collection’s luxury appeal.** - **Suggested Addition:** **Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Small Seconds (≈$8,000)** – A refined ultra-thin dress watch with an elegant aesthetic. 2. **Introduce a Grand Complication** – **A moonphase or perpetual calendar would elevate the technical depth beyond chronographs and GMTs.** - **Suggested Addition:** **IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 42mm (≈$12,000)** – A sophisticated perpetual calendar with timeless design. 3. **Increase Material Variety** – **A gold-cased or titanium timepiece would balance the collection’s heavy reliance on steel and bronze.** - **Suggested Addition:** **Grand Seiko SBGA373 (≈$6,000)** – Spring Drive movement with an 18K gold bezel, blending performance with luxury. --- ## **Downsizing Advice** If reducing the collection, the **Christopher Ward C60 Pro 300 Bronze** could be removed, as it overlaps with the **Longines Legend Diver Bronze** in terms of material and design language. --- ## **Watch-by-Watch Summary** ### **1) Omega Moonwatch Professional (9.3/10.0) – Price Estimate: $5,141** - My trio one year after entering this rabbit hole.
IWC Spitfire Automatic: I was looking for a GADA watch that would scratch my field watch itch. It's incredibly legible, I like the 39mm sizimg, and everything about the dial is simple, but done perfectly. This gets the most wear.
Tudor Pelagos 39: My most recent pick up. I wanted a dive watch and had my eye on this for a while. I like the all brushed tool watch look. The sizing and proportions are excellent and the titanium is light and dissapears on the wrist. I think this will split wear with the Spitfire.
Longines Conquest 38mm Green Dial: My wife bought me this watch for our wedding so it has a lot of sentimental value. Its dial is gorgeous and dresses up well with leather. Due to the amount of polished surfaces, this is my "nice occasion" watch.
How I got here: I got engaged a year and a half ago and wanted to get a nice watch for the wedding, then fell hard down the automatic/luxury watch rabbit hole. The first watch I bought was an Omega Railmaster - its a great watch and has an amazing movement, but I couldnt fall in love with it. The dial isnt very legible, especially in direct sunlight, and the porportions were a little off for me. I still have it but planning on selling, so I didnt include it. I bought a couple other mid-range watches that also didnt do much for me, so im planning on selling them too.
After about a year, I'm happy with the current three watch collection and will be content for a while.
TL;DR: wasted a bunch of money in my first foray into watches, but landed on this two tool watches and one fancier watch collection. Thanks for listening to my TED talk.

Love looking at these while I work.
I brought my winder into my new office job. Now it sits proudly on my desk while I’m working and gets locked safely in a drawer when I’m gone. I enjoy getting to see my entire collection while I’m working, especially when things get stressful. I do not plan on adding to this collection; I hope to just be a 3-watch guy with heavy hitters.
Tudor Black Bay Ceramic: This was an impulse buy a few months ago. I went to the mall with a buddy so he could see a Zenith Triple Calendar (which he ended up buying) and he pointed out this piece. I was immediately drawn to the stark contrast between the hands/hour markers and the black dial and case. It has an exhibition caseback, something we rarely see from Tudor, with a very cool blacked out movement. The branding is very faint on the dial; the whole thing just screams stealth.
Grand Seiko SLGW003: This is my latest acquisition and is on my wrist daily. I love everything about it. Titanium’s super light, blued second hand is stunning, the most beautifully finished movement we’ve ever seen from GS, and it’s perfectly proportioned.
GP Laureato 38 Copper: This was my “grail” last year, the watch to end all watch purchases for me. The textured dial is out of this world and I love the bracelet. The movement is gorgeous, as you’d expect from High Horology. The gold rotor just spins and spins and spins; it’s quite hypnotizing.
Wolf Double Cub Winder: Tracks rotations, so the watches are mostly right-side up when static. I plug it in during the day and then the batteries kick in when it’s locked up. Overall very happy with it.
