Collector Description:

I am heading to Sonoma with my wife this weekend. We are celebrating 11 years of marriage and two years of what is my “crani-versary.” That is the two year anniversary of my successful surgery for removal of a nasty brain tumor. It’s a super special time because my surgery is just one day before our anniversary. So, it’s a double celebration. Then on Monday, my wife heads home and I’m in San Jose for my national sales meeting. As we always say, I will be wearing these in good health. How’d I do?!

Avg Rating: 1349 = Seiko Marine Master Professional 300M Tuna SSBN031 (1273) / Sieiko Prospex Alpinist (1036) / Tudor Black Bay Gmt (1738)

Collector Description:

This is my watch collection from over the years. From left to right. My workwatch; Seiko Tuna SBBN031, my normal watch; Seiko Sarb017, and my "looking a little extra fancy" watch; Tudor Black Bay GMT.

First one I got was the Seiko Sarb017 after breaking both of my Vostok Amphibias. Realised I would probably be better off buying a proper watch rather than keep on breaking the cheaper ones.

Second one I got was the Seiko SBBN031 "Tuna" that I bought shortly after I started as a deep sea diver. When I first started diving I was still using the Sarb017 since it said 200m water resistance on the dial. A couple of dives and the insides of the Sarb017 was broken. Had to change the whole insides, clockwork and everything. One of the older divers explaimed to me that I needed a proper watch if I wanted to keep on diving with a watch on. He told me about the Tuna being the perfect watch for a young deep sea diver as it is not very expensive compared to other proper dive watches. According to him the quality compared to price with the SBBN031 is unmatched. He still had his old one.

Last one, and fairly recently aquired is the Tudor Black Bay GMT. I had worked my way to a little money and wanted to perhaps "up" my watchgame a littlebit. You do get brainwashed by living with other divers that are mostly all into watches, and I spent what to me is alot of money on the Tudor. Originally I thought I would get one of the pure diving models from Tudor as I have always liked them and they have a long history in diving. However I am so satisfied with the Tuna that I eventually landed on getting the GMT as I have always thought of it as a practical function and the watch looked very nice. After first trying it on I was quickly sold, hopefully not just by the experience of such a nice store haha:)

Rate my collection - It’s not much, but it’s honest work. Almost 2 years in this hobby and this is the state of my collection. Surprised by how much watch you can get in the 500 - 1000 dollar range, really makes it difficult to go and spend thousands on a watch. I am really trying to love the seiko but the size of the watch it’s a bit too big for my wrist, experimenting with nato straps atm.

I'm a 37 year old accountant.

Out of all of the them my favorite is the Seiko on the right. It was my dad's nicest watch, I grew up with always seeing an F-91w Casio on his wrist he wasn't a flashy guy. He was a marine and an engineer. He would also wear a calculator watch and use it in his woodshop, I found the Seiko in a drawer and asked him about it. He said it was for meetings and now that he is retired didn't care if I took it. My son is due in June, I'll eventually hand it to him and let him know all about how my dad was growing up.

Collector Description:

[SOTC] I think I have a well-rounded collection with some sentimental pieces and high quality pieces.

Casio: my favorite casual watch, even more than my everyday Apple Watch. So light and if it breaks I’m only out $20. Most photos of me on vacation I have this one on (as well as a smile).

Citizen: my dad bought this in Japan in the 90s on a business trip. Dug it out of his basement and fixed it up. Still remembering him wearing it when I was a kid and thought it was so cool.

Movado: wife gave me the Calendoplan as a wedding gift the morning of our wedding. I was (and am) so proud of it. It was generous then and I am wearing it in all our wedding photos.

Longines: the Presence was my first nice watch, a “we made it” Christmas gift from my wife after we bought a home and got higher paying jobs. Symbolizes a lot to me.

Omega: my all-time favorite watch and my weekend warrior. A Christmas gift from my grandpa, I’m most proud of this watch and intend it to be an heirloom.

Cartier: my newest watch (received yesterday). Another Christmas gift from my grandfather. Has a lot of potential to be a sporty dress watch for me and I love having a square dial.

Collector Description:

My collection after 4 years, always aimed to keep some variety in style/colour.

Hi all, wanted to share my (relatively) modest collection that I've built up over the past 4 years. Let me know which is your favourite!

Starting from top-left:

Farer Stanhope II - When I was first dipping my toe into watches I loved the look of the original Stanhope from Farer but was a little hesitant about the price tag. A few years later after I'd added a few more affordable watches to the collection, I saw the Stanhope II announcement and absolutely had to get in on it. I love the slightly retro styling and the clean design.

Oris Aquis 39.5mm (Ref. 01 733 7732 4157-07 8 21 05PEB) - This was a birthday present from my family and would be tied for most worn with the Hamilton. Love the green dial and the metal bracelet is so well made - it's super comfortable, well finished and I love the taper.

Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical (Ref. H69439931) - A classic casual mechanical watch, I love the thin dimensions and the long power reserve. Only gripe is the long-ish lugs but I love how it wears overall and it's my go-to daily watch.

Meistersinger Neo Date (Ref. NE911D) - I fell in love as soon as I saw a photo of this from a local watch store during the pandemic, but took about a year for me to actually get it. Doesn't get loads of wear given the colour doesn't suit everything but I love wearing it as a dressier watch that's a bit unique.

Seiko Panda Chronograph (Ref. 7T32-7C60) - The earliest acquisition of this collection, I saw this and it immediately gave me "Baby Daytona" vibes. I love the slightly retro look to it and it's my go-to whenever I wear black.

Seiko Presage "Fuyugeshiki" (Ref. SRPC97J1) - I adore the dial of this watch and it's extremely well made for the price tag, but I bought it before I had got a bead on what dimensions worked for my wrist best and unfortunately it's a bit bulky for my tastes. Still love looking at it but planning to sell this one and get a slightly smaller dress watch (open to suggestions!)

In terms of wrist time, it would go Hamilton > Oris > Farer > Seiko Panda > Meistersinger > Seiko Presage

Collector Description:

I've been collecting for over 10 years and I've come to realise, after trying a plethora of watches, that I prefer simple over complicated.

I am quite happy with the state of my current collection. the 2 watches in each category are similar yet different enough to justify keeping both.

(Divers) Tudor vs Halios: Mat blue dial, classic historical design and aluminum bezel vs glossy black dial, modern design and fully lumed sapphire bezel.

(Dress) Grand Seiko vs Nomos: Cream dial, center second, a bit thicker for a more casual wear and incredible polish all around vs silver dial, small second, gold indices and blued hands and very thin.

(Sports) Sinn vs Omega: Lacquer black dial, black and white painted indices and a more toolish military look vs Sunburst blue dial, applied highly polished indices and a more refined case.

I have no problem giving wrist time to each watch during the week, which is usually a good sign!

Collector Description:

This is my current collection! The Tudor, anordain, GS, and Hamilton are all tied to wonderful memories or experiences. The seamaster is just a joy to wear and so versatile, and the seiko is my typical travel watch. For some time I’ve been thinking about adding a chronograph, but I’m very undecided on which one. I’m a “milestone” kind of watch guy, so I probably won’t purchase for another two years or so, but wanted to see what sorts of chronos the community has enjoyed. I have small-ish wrists at 6.6 inches, so I know this limits my options a bit. In the past I have admired many Breitlings, zenith’s, and a few Sinn’s, but am open to any suggestions!
