Description: <p>I just recently caught the watch-collecting bug and have been exploring it slowly. I&#x27;ve had a g-shock for many years that has been really good to me, but I didn&#x27;t daily wear it. It started when I bought the Draplin x Timex collab. I was on the Draplin website looking at his stuff. I think he&#x27;s a really interesting guy and ended up buying his Timex watch for a hundred bucks. It seemed as cool as any watch at the time.<br/><br/>I made the mistake of looking up info about the watch on YouTube, and BAM! all of a sudden, my feed was full of Russians, Brits, and Irishmen, showing me all sorts of things I never knew I needed.<br/><br/>After doing a little homework, I decided on the Hamilyon Khaki field would be a good first mechanical watch. I didn&#x27;t want to spend too much, what if I got bored next week, and didn&#x27;t like watches anymore? Also, I&#x27;m originally from Philly and spent my youth riding the Hamilton Trains. There was a heritage and a local connection there. I also wanted to experience of winding a watch every day. I really like the watch. I think it&#x27;s so cool. I love it.<br/><br/>Ready to move up a little and wanting to do a little travel, I scored a Christopher Ward Sealander 63 GMT. I think the GMT function is fascinating. I would have liked a &#x27;real&#x27; GMT instead of an &#x27;office,&#x27; but at this price point, these only seemed to be available from the swatch group (Mido was in the running). I already had a swatch group watch, and I wanted to support an independent microbrand. I think it was the hand-distressed green dial that really sold it. Mr. Wonderful says it&#x27;s all about the dial. I like it pretty well, but not as much as the Hamilton. I don&#x27;t think the power reserve is as robust as advertised. And I&#x27;m never really more than 3 hours difference from home, and it&#x27;s easier to do that in my head than to read the dial.<br/><br/>Then, I decided that I wanted a solid diver&#x27;s watch. I have the submariner archetype in my head and really wanted that vibe, but I&#x27;m in no mood to spend submariner money. The Tudor Black Bay 58 seemed like the right move. I&#x27;ve only had it for a few days. There weren&#x27;t really any other watches in the running was my first pre-owned watch. I got it from eBay; it had authentication, which made me feel safe. It has the box and papers. The documents are in Japanese (i think). I do really think the BB 925 is awesome, and it felt really, really good on my wrist, but too quirky for my first dive watch/&#x27;really nice watch.&#x27; I&#x27;m happy with it. I think it&#x27;s really nice looking. Anything bigger than 39mm would probably be too big. I caught a glimpse of the lume today and was spellbound.<br/><br/>I don&#x27;t know what&#x27;s next. I&#x27;m in no hurry. Looking back, doing this much watch shopping in 18 months was a bit impulsive. I&#x27;m sure I can take a break. If you made it this far, thank you.</p>

Description: <p>After a lot of fluctuation, my 4 watch rotation:</p><p> </p><p>Have always worn a watch and owned a few at a time, but really got into collecting just before and during Covid.<br/><br/>My “covid hobby” became building and modding watches but I’ve backed off that part of the hobby recently with a new appreciation of what goes into making timepieces.<br/><br/>Never got too wild, but I think the height of my collection was over 20 watches. Recently, after much buying/selling/trading, I’ve settled into this 4 watch rotation that covers all of my needs (for now at least) and I’m really happy with them. I still have a handful more that I don’t wear as often (a couple I built and some gifts mostly), but these are what I wear everyday. I like to think it’s a somewhat unique collection without the “must-haves” a lot of folks turn to.<br/><br/>From left to right:<br/><br/>Longines Lyre on a leather strap. Love the simplicity of this one but wasn’t a fan of the bracelet it came with. On the leather, I can dress this up or down easily and it sees the most daily wear.<br/><br/>Trafford Crossroads on the bracelet. Backed the Kickstarter for this and bought the bracelet recently at the DC watch show. Love the uniqueness of the case and how well the bracelet suits it. And the dial is gorgeous.<br/><br/>Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Aquamarine Dream. As soon as I saw this watch I knew I had to have one. Teal is my favorite color and I love how this edition is just slightly different from the regular line with the rounded edges on the indices. It was my first “nice” (read: somewhat expensive) watch and I don’t see myself ever letting this one go.<br/><br/>Christopher Ward C60 Trident Pro 300. How are these so reasonably priced? The quality and the finish on these is awesome and fit the spot of “black dial diver” in my collection without just being another sub homage. Put a taupe Epsom on the Lorier Zephyr, a dark alligator on the vintage chronograph, a Pueblo row stitch on the Laco Pro, and a blue nubuck on the Orient. I really love the Lorier and the new strap makes it feel brand new!</p><p> </p><p>Aristo Triple Calendar Chronograph - I found it in one of my parents drawers the other day! The brand is Aristo and it’s a German company. Appears to be a modified Valjeaux movement and was made sometime in the 1960s. Description: <p>I just added the Monta Triumph to my collection over the weekend. So far, I love everything about this piece. The bracelet is great, the finish/quality seems outstanding and I love the dial. I don’t mean to gravitate towards the micro brands, but the quality of my last two additions, Formex and Monta, have been extremely hard to beat for the price. Description: <p>Garmin Instinct 2s - My “beater” watch that I use for gym, sports, camping, and any other event that requires lots of physical activity.<br/><br/>Timex Weekender 38mm - My casual watch. I live on an island so shorts and flip-flops are the norm most of the time. Basically my GADA when my Zulu is too much.<br/><br/>Longines Zulu Spirit 39mm - This became my grail as soon as I tried it on in person. Absolutely beautiful. The 39mm on my 6.5in wrist is as perfect as it gets when it comes to fit, even with the notoriously long and straight case. My GADA and in some cases I’m sure I’ll strap it on as my dress watch.<br/><br/>Seiko Presage “Fuyugeshiki” - My very first expensive watch ($500). I bought this to serve as my dress watch but find myself reaching for it in casual wear. That was before I got my Zulu. My favorite element is the textured dial.
