Description:
We'll dive right in, in chronological order, with this Swatch La Tour Eiffel GK276. This watch was a gift to me from my Uncle who had just returned from a business trip in Paris. I was very young at the time, and loved this watch to death. It was a fun watch to wear as a kid, and I still have fun wearing it a few times a year now. I especially love the strap, which is printed with a map of the area surrounding the Eiffel Tower. Next up, a Casio GW-9010-1. A solar powered, tough as nails Casio that was a Christmas gift from my grandmother when I was in 7th grade. I remember a classmate of mine had this watch and how cool I thought it was. When I opened this watch on Christmas day, I played with it all day - testing out alarms and functions. As a 7th-grader, I loved the black and red color scheme and the almost futuristic look of the exposed solar panel. This watch doesn't get much wrist time anymore, but I still love it nonetheless. The third watch that I added to my budding collection was a black PVD stainless steel diver from Capri Watch. This watch has since been discontinued so I cannot find the exact reference, but it is similar to their 5292. I was fortunate enough to go on my high school's Europe trip in the summer of 2016. We had a half day stop at the island of Capri in Italy. My friend and I stumbled across a small boutique appropriately named "Capri Watch" during our free exploration time. We both walked in, and walked out with two brand new watches to sport for the rest of the trip. This was, to me, my first 'adult' watch. I wore it proudly throughout my early college (university) years. Moving forward a few years, I became more and more into watches. I was also studying french, and becoming obsessed with anything to do with France. This led me to search for a watch that was "fabriqué en France". That is how I stumbled upon Gustave et Cie. I was drawn to the style of their pieces and their philosophy behind offering 12 or 24 hour watches that use a single hand to display minutes and hours simultaneously. Time should not be overcomplicated; seconds are not important. I picked their Georges 12H Moon phase in blue and steel. This watch has probably seen the least wrist time out of anything in my collection. Not at the fault of the watch - I still think it's brilliant - but at the fault of the owner. I moved on too quickly to something else. That something else would be my LMM-01 from Merci Paris. I purchased this watch in 2022, when I traveled to Paris with my childhood best friend. We had a wonderful trip and I knew I wanted to commemorate it with something special that would remind me of it everyday. The LMM-01 was just that. I love the simplicity and wearability of this watch. This felt like my first 'real' watch, as silly as that sounds. It was my first mechanical watch and it introduced me to NATO straps! Every time I wear this piece, it does its job. It reminds me of a great trip with a great friend. Lastly, my most recent purchase was my Cartier Tank Must, which I bought in May of this year. I traveled back to Paris with my girlfriend to show her around my favorite city. On the first day, we went to the original Cartier boutique where I purchased this piece. I slipped it on and it didn't leave my wrist for the rest of the trip. I still wear it daily now. The history behind this watch and iconic Cartier design really drew me to this piece. Reflecting back on my collecting over the years, I think it is pretty clear what influences my watch buying decisions and how my tastes have evolved as I have grown older. Perhaps it is no coincidence that my first and latest watches were from Paris. I'm not sure what my next piece will be, but I do know this. It will be something meaningful to me, and probably also French 😂

https://www.watchcrunch.com/bicenhower/posts/my-humble-collection-7-228364

Description:
SOTC as a College Student. This is my current collection go ahead and roast me, please. What are your thoughts?

Alright let’s start with the elephant in the room.

Yes, I own an Apple Watch and no, I don’t really consider it part of my collection, but since it is a watch, it’s in here. I just use it for my workouts.

Suggess Seagull ST19 Chrono - I bought this watch about three years ago and I think I just like it. Also, if anybody recognises the similarities, I am not paying for a breitling top time. Just one just brings me joy every now and then.

Kuoe Kyoto Royal smith - I bought this watch on my trip to Japan recently and I really like it because it brings a new aspect to my collection. That vintage case shape and the small case size or something entirely new to me and I think I like it so far. And the fact that I can’t seem to find the black version on their website I really enjoy as well because I think you can only get it in the store in Kyoto So it is not that likely to see other people with that watch around.

Grand Seiko 4522-8000 - This is a manual wind early GS. I love the 45 Case shape. I bought this in Tokyo for a pretty good price I think. I used to find these watches pretty boring but when I saw it in person and now every time I wear it I am reminded that the simplicity of this watch is actually one of its strengths.

Seiko Baby alipinist - HOT TAKE: I actually like the baby alpinist way better than the actual alpinist. For the price range in Seikos lineup this has a Great movement and overall this watch is a spec monster. So far this is probably my favourite watch. I love the golden hands the mat texturised dial and the fact that this Watches is built like a tank. Cannot recommend it enough.

Traska Venturer GMT - I’ve been obsessed with GMT Watches when I bought this And I am very impressed with the quality of this watch at the price. But the best thing about this watch probably is the bracelet and the comfort. I’ve had this watch on other straps as well, but I always come back to the Bracelet. This is pretty special, I think since I’m not a big bracelet guy.

FUTURE PLANS:

Right now, I am eyeballing two different kinds of watches that I really want to add.

One of which is a quart or Mecca quartz chronograph. I am aware that my seagull watch will break at some point And I am not dealing with the cost of servicing a mechanical chronograph. I was thinking of the new mission to moon phase In completely white just to have a very fun summer peace Or alternatively The seiko speed timer. Feel free to let me know your thoughts on this.

Another Watch I want to add is a diver. Ever since I sold mine, I’ve been missing one and I really want one again. I really liked the oris diver 65. But when I went and looked at it in person in Tokyo, I didn’t like it as much as I thought. What I did like when I looked at it is the Tudor black bay 58. If you have other suggestions, let me know. As you can tell, I am willing to pay more for my diver. So this watch can be anywhere between let’s say 500-5000€. Btw I also really like baltics divers.

I hope you enjoyed my little write up. I don’t think the One picture I uploaded does all the Watches justice. So look at my profile for more.

https://www.watchcrunch.com/simonswatch/posts/sotc-as-a-college-student-725480

Description:
Over time, I have amassed a small collection of watches from Mr. Jones. They represent a unique and distinctive watch brand based in London, known for its artistic and unconventional watch designs. This brand frequently collaborates with various artists and designers to create timepieces that transcend mere functionality; they are wearable art. Mr. Jones states, "...their watches are not only unusual, but they are also intended to tell a story, initiate a conversation, or simply bring a smile to your face." . While not all of their watches fall into this category, many are produced in limited quantities, often just 100 pieces, making them highly sought-after collectibles for watch enthusiasts and art lovers alike. . Despite not being a luxury brand, they offer a more affordable option for individuals who appreciate unique, artistic timepieces, thus making them accessible to a wider audience. . Several of their watches feature unique and artistic movements that surpass traditional watch hands, often aligning with the watch's theme or design, enhancing the overall aesthetic. . What's particularly fascinating is that Mr. Jones allows customers to customize specific aspects of their watches, such as the strap and case back, enabling them to add a personal touch to their timepiece—a truly super cool feature.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Watches/comments/16g40hz/mr_jones_novelty_timepieces/?share_id=rkZqQy_vscw_82pErBzg9&utm_content=1&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_source=share&utm_term=1
