I hereby present you with my trio of British Micro Brands.

On the left it is the Marloe Coniston on a beads of rice after market bracelet. This was my first ever watch. It is “cheap” and cheerful with a unique design. I never liked it on any strap and the Marloe bracelets are really bad. I think I found the right match with the beads of rice.

In the centre my Farer Carnegie manually wound chronograph. I love how Farer stands out with their design and their playful, yet stylish ways with colour. I use it mainly during summer months.

On the right my Christopher Ward Sealander C63 in a limited edition yellow colour. Small and rather dressy especially on the Consort bracelet, which i really love on this watch.

Flexing my current collection.

The Laureato Copper Dial is one of those watches that always holds my attention when looking at it. Such an incredible dial which is 10x better in person. The way it plays with the light and takes on different hues in different lighting conditions is mesmerising.

The Santos is... the Santos. An iconic daily driver. In some ways, I would prefer a different dial Santos but I do like their black/grey dial ones and for me it's also the coolest and most wearable, it carries a very sporty and stylish vibe when used with the rubber strap.

My next item will likely be a Day Date or a JLC Calendar, perhaps a vintage AP Calendar.

Anyone else here appreciate GP? For me, it was really just this dial that I couldn't say no to. I kept returning to it and every time I looked at it I fell in love. I know it's not the most economically sensible purchase currently (although I got this "like-new" watch for 4 figures below retail) and I know it is quite a niche brand (even if it's very highly regarded as haute horology) but watches aren't investments anyway and you may as well get what you love. It's also a benefit that it looks valuable while not being a brand that 99% of people will know, even the muggers. That said, if anyone has ever tried reselling a Laureato, I'd be keen to hear how that went! haha

Hi everybody, this is my first post and I would like to share with you my humble watch collection. My watch journey startet with a gift from my grandfather, who was a pilot in the Second World War. 1.) Longines Presence, my first automatic watch. Was a Christmas gift and very sentimental to me. I’ll never sell this watch as I remember wearing it everyday in college after receiving it. No matter what I was wearing that day I had that watch on my wrist even though it is a dressier watch.

2.) Sinn 104 Anthracite, my first watch purchase for myself which also has significant sentimental value. This was purchased after reading about it non stop on this subreddit.

3.) Nomos Ahoi Siren White, the watch that started it all. I believe I saw a post about a Nomos watch from this sub Reddit and that just led me down the rabbit hole. This was a watch I purchased for myself when I graduated from my undergrad and will always cherish. My favorite watch brand and watch that I own to date.

4.) Cartier Santos Dumont Black Lacquer, my latest pickup and definitely the start of a Cartier bug. This was purchased to mark a significant promotion in my career. It’s a testament to my hard work and it just looks so beautiful.

5.) Tag Heuer Aquaracer Quartz, a gift from my father which I’ll never let out of my sight. My father always wears his older version of this aquaracer (which honestly I like a lot better). This was a gift to complete the family trio of aquaracers (my brother, my father and myself).

6.) Mr Jones Ricochet, a gift from my girlfriend for our anniversary. A surprise gift that definitely impressed me. The dial is so cool and it’s the perfect casual/summer watch. I can’t wait to wear it this summer out and about.

Not pictured is an Omega Moonswatch Saturn and a Casio Forester. Both very comfortable and casual.

Got a little bit of everything. American, Soviet, Swiss and Japanese.
The Casio F-91W is the latest addition to my collection. I got it for a measly $8 on sale in Japan. Couldn't pass it up for that amount of money.
The Raketa Kopernik is my very first watch. I loved the hands and went on a deep dive trying to find one with as many original parts as possible within my limited budget.
The Raketa Schkolnie is my summer watch, it is basically all I wear when I'm out and about in the summer or on holiday. It's adds a nice splash of color and some playfulness to my collection. It was an absolute pain to acquire one in this good of a condition, because it's technically a kids watch. We all know how kids are...
My Oris Big Crown Pointer Date was a gift from my father. He found out that I had bought myself the Kopernik and told me that he still had an Oris watch, which had gotten too small for his wrists.
The final watch is my Bulova Accutron Spaceview. This is something I just really needed to have as an electrical engineer. It always draws interest from fellow engineers. While I would have liked one with a chapter ring, I ended up with this instead. At least it's the case I wanted.

I only paid retail on explorer and everything else was from the secondary market. I think I paid 55k in total. Still is a lot. I was lucky to have done research into AI in grad school back in the 2010s and invested early into hardware needed to run transformers. As someone that works in software, I have grown to appreciate mechanical and handcrafted artistry

Rolex Explorer, 40mm -- The Explorer is my favorite field watch. It's funny that Rolex is viewed as a luxury when it is historically the most serviceable watch brand. I love the simplicity of the black dial with arabic numerals at the corners (a common theme in my small collection). This is the only Rolex I will ever own.

JLC Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar -- This is the first watch I fell in love with, and it is usually worn daily. I love the color mix of silver, black, and blue with the brown strap and the simplicity of the Kurt Klaus design to keep everything in sync. I was worried about being too concerned about not being able to go back in time and accidentally overcorrecting the date, but that only happened once.

JLC Master Ultra Thin -- This is the peak JLC ultra-thin for me, featuring corner arabic numerals and knife hour markers. It houses their thinnest production caliber, Caliber 849, which can be argued as the peak JLC watch since Jaeger and LeCoultre first partnered together when Jacques-David LeCoultre accepted a challenge by Edmond Jaeger to manufacture an ultra-thin watch he designed, the Caliber 145. The 849 at 1.38mm is the modern spiritual successor to the Caliber 145. The direct lineage involves a consistent focus on miniaturization and precision, with each new generation of calibers building upon the knowledge and techniques developed from the previous ones. This color combination is my favorite of the ultra-thin models.

JLC Duomètre Chronograph -- One thing that always frustrated me about chronographs was that the main center hand was used as the chronograph hand, and the clock seconds hand was relegated to a subdial. I love that this watch has both hands at the center. I am also fond of the fact that it is a mono-pusher. Chronographs put me off without a flyback mechanism and can never see myself ever owning a Speedmaster, Daytona, etc.

Here’s my two watch collection for now. I’m hoping to add one or maybe two more pieces in the future, probably a chronograph and something more “fun,” I’m open to suggestions! I had been daily-ing my 1815 Up/Down but banged the watch a few too many times for comfort, hence, a Submariner to not have to worry about as much.

Almost 10 years in.

It was quite the day. We had booked the weekend thinking that our group of friends were going to join - ended up being just the two of us in a new city. I lingered a touch too long in front of the Rolex window, and when she asked why, I shared that the SuperOcean needed to be sent off and I was casually in the market for another watch, but "there's no way I could afford that one" (the OP - I didn't know what it cost but the brand had me assuming it was way out of budget). She shared that she had always wanted a Tank to mark a professional achievement.

As luck would have it, there was a Cartier AD down the street. When we walked in, seeing her try on and subsequently pull the trigger on the watch - I knew she was a power to behold. It took a pizza and at least 2 pints for me to work up the hutzpah to go into the Rolex AD and try on the OP, but once we were there I knew I had to put some chips on the table if I was going to get another weekend with this woman.
And here we are, 5 years later. Those watches have become very sentimental for us and a really fun story to tell at dinner.
