I thought I’d share my current collection with you all. I currently have a one-in, one-out policy, and with 8 watches, they all get a decent amount of wrist time. From the top left clockwise:

Rolex Yachtmaster: I’ve always loved the gold and black combo, especially with the pop of red on the dial, but the two tone bracelet can be a bit much sometimes, so I usually wear it on an Everest rubber or leather strap.

Zenith El Primero Original 1969: I’ve always loved the rich history of the brand and their movements. It’s perfect for a casual night out with jeans/tee shirt.

CWC Mellor 72: Another watch with great history, it scratched the mechanical itch for me. I love the cushion case and throwback design.

IWC 36: I’ve had difficulty finding the right IWC due to the lug length and the fact that my wrist is fairly small. The 36 really just fits perfectly, and the dial is sunburst and very radiant in person.

Rolex OP 34: This is the 114200 with a champagne colored dial. The dimensions on this model make it closer to a 35/36 and it really fits perfectly as compared to other 34mm and 36mm models that I’ve tried on.

Zodiac Automatic (1950s): Vintage piece with the original box and papers from 70 years ago. It gets by far the most compliments of any watch that I wear.

Tudor BB58: I think enough has been said about this watch over time. It works really well on an Artem Sailcloth strap as well.

Seiko SKX013: The first watch I bought in this collection. The 007 was just too big, but this model really suits my wrist well.

This is the state of my collection at the moment, been a long road… I’m looking forward to sell the bb58 beacause I hate the bracelet, since I got my sub the black bay fifty eight lost all the wrist time, and i can’t get any enjoyment of the Tudor, I tried the new pelagos and the bracelet is top notch. Want to replace it but don’t know what should bring in, want something vintage and to dress up because I only have metal bracelets. Looking to replace it with something non date but leather bracelet, I was thinking something like the Cartier or JLC reverso but can’t find any to experiment near me. Maybe some kind of a breitling but I don’t like the new ones.

They all have their stories too: MoonSwatch - bought this year for the fun. Skipper - I work at sea so appropriate and love the new design and colours, the Carrera line is doing well this year. Bought it about a month ago. Sub - I bought it about 11 years ago, it’s my baby, just had its first service, wear it practically daily, always loved it. Nomos Ahoi - Bought it in 2015, love dive watches and it’s a dressier diver. It’s been through all sorts worn mostly for work and it’s awesome. Hypebeast x Bamford - Bought last week after a couple of drinks and it was released that day, not sure about the quality now I’ve got it, could probably have spent the money better elsewhere. Mondaine - Gotta love the Swiss railways. Had it probably 10 years. G-Shock - Got given it by my GF many years ago, never needs a battery and insanely accurate. Ed Sheeran G-Shock - I live near him, thought it appropriate in case we become best buds.

All I’ll say is the deeper I get, the more I treasure timeless simplicity

I just recently caught the watch-collecting bug and have been exploring it slowly. I've had a g-shock for many years that has been really good to me, but I didn't daily wear it. It started when I bought the Draplin x Timex collab. I was on the Draplin website looking at his stuff. I think he's a really interesting guy and ended up buying his Timex watch for a hundred bucks. It seemed as cool as any watch at the time.

I made the mistake of looking up info about the watch on YouTube, and BAM! all of a sudden, my feed was full of Russians, Brits, and Irishmen, showing me all sorts of things I never knew I needed.

After doing a little homework, I decided on the Hamilyon Khaki field would be a good first mechanical watch. I didn't want to spend too much, what if I got bored next week, and didn't like watches anymore? Also, I'm originally from Philly and spent my youth riding the Hamilton Trains. There was a heritage and a local connection there. I also wanted to experience of winding a watch every day. I really like the watch. I think it's so cool. I love it.

Ready to move up a little and wanting to do a little travel, I scored a Christopher Ward Sealander 63 GMT. I think the GMT function is fascinating. I would have liked a 'real' GMT instead of an 'office,' but at this price point, these only seemed to be available from the swatch group (Mido was in the running). I already had a swatch group watch, and I wanted to support an independent microbrand. I think it was the hand-distressed green dial that really sold it. Mr. Wonderful says it's all about the dial. I like it pretty well, but not as much as the Hamilton. I don't think the power reserve is as robust as advertised. And I'm never really more than 3 hours difference from home, and it's easier to do that in my head than to read the dial.

Then, I decided that I wanted a solid diver's watch. I have the submariner archetype in my head and really wanted that vibe, but I'm in no mood to spend submariner money. The Tudor Black Bay 58 seemed like the right move. I've only had it for a few days. There weren't really any other watches in the running was my first pre-owned watch. I got it from eBay; it had authentication, which made me feel safe. It has the box and papers. The documents are in Japanese (i think). I do really think the BB 925 is awesome, and it felt really, really good on my wrist, but too quirky for my first dive watch/'really nice watch.' I'm happy with it. I think it's really nice looking. Anything bigger than 39mm would probably be too big. I caught a glimpse of the lume today and was spellbound.

I don't know what's next. I'm in no hurry. Looking back, doing this much watch shopping in 18 months was a bit impulsive. I'm sure I can take a break. If you made it this far, thank you.

Fell head over heels for this watch and had to get it. It has exceeded my expectations and will get the lions share of wrist time.

Here is my current three watch collection. I’ve been on a bit of a journey this year, selling and trading on many watches to get down to this focused set of three. I love them each but would love to hear any suggestions. I’ve thought about “upgrading” the Baltic to a BB58, but I actually like how the Baltic wears better. I prefer the bracelet on the Baltic and can’t justify the price increase.
